Bernie's Book Bank Book Drive
Our One Book, One School committee is hosting a children’s book drive to benefit Bernie’s Book Bank. With a goal of distributing books to 25,000 more children this year, they urgently need books.
Reading is the single most important skill a child needs, yet many children lack access to books, especially books of their own. If you’re a child born into a middle-class family in this country, you have an average of 13 age-appropriate books in your home. But if you’re a child born into less fortunate circumstances, you have one book to share with 300 other children in your neighborhood. They provide free quality books for children to build personal libraries and have distributed more than 24 million free books since 2009.
We ask that you consider donating new and gently used children’s books (birth-6th grade reading level) during our book drive. Children’s picture books, board books, recent non-fiction, graphic novels, and chapter books are all appreciated. Please note, Bernie’s Book Bank cannot use activity books, coloring books, dictionaries, textbooks, religious books, over loved or foreign language books other than Spanish.
Please help us achieve our goal by donating gently used children’s books (birth-6th grade). Books can be placed in the collection bins located in the front vestibule by Door One at Highlands from 2/3/2025 until our drive ends on 3/13/2025.
Any questions, please reach out to Amy Long at highlandssfcp1@gmail.com.
