Narwhal Newsletter
June 2nd, 2024
Hello Marsh Creek,
I hope that everyone is enjoying their weekend. It is hard to believe that this will be the last newsletter that I am able to share with our families this year. I cannot say how proud I am of our students, and all that they have achieved. It has truly been an honor to support your family over the course of this school year, and while our students are ready to take the next steps in their journey, please know that we truly believe in the statement "Once a Narwhal, always a Narwhal!" We will be watching the students and their progress in the years to come, and know that they will achieve great things! I want to thank our parents, teachers and most importantly, our students for a wonderful year, and thank you for allowing us to be a part of your child's life. This week's newsletter contains a wealth of information related to community events, athletic camps, and learning opportunities taking place throughout Downingtown, so be sure to take a look at all of the options available to our families this Summer. Thank you for allowing us to work with your students, and I hope that you and your family have an amazing week, and an even better summer!

Summer Learning Activities and Resources
Our district's Summer Learning page is available to K-12 families and students. Summer Learning through IXL and Khan Academy, offers targeted opportunities to review the prior year's ELA and Math standards and high-priority skills to prepare students for the grade they are entering in Fall 2024.
A direct link to Summer Learning has been added to each of our K-12/DCA individual webpages in two locations: under "Resources" and an icon was added to each school's "Backpack."
The district's Summer Reading page is available to 6-12 families and students. The DASD English Department has curated suggested reading as a way to help strengthen reading skills, review the prior year's academic standards, while incorporating concepts that will be introduced in the next school year.
A direct link to Summer Reading has been added to each of our Middle and High School/DCA webpages: Under "Resources" and an icon was added to each school's "Backpack."

Chromebook Care
The most frequent damage to a Chromebook is a cracked screen. Follow these tips to avoid damage.
- Always carry a Chromebook closed. Never hold a Chromebook by its screen and always use two hands to carry the device.
- If carrying the device from classroom to classroom, hold the Chromebook close to your chest much like a hug.
- Be sure to set a Chromebook on a flat surface during use and avoid slanted, uneven surfaces which could lead to the device sliding off and dropping to the floor.
For more tips about protecting your device, and information related to getting a protective case for your device, click the following link to our technology page. Thank you for your assistance!
