A Message from our Spartan Wellspace...
Hello Spartans!
If you are free Monday, the 4th at lunch please join us in the Wellspace for our first Mindful Monday. We will be making Snowflakes and Christmas Ornaments, and we will be offering Hot Coco and of course mini marshmallows to go with. The purpose on Mindful Mondays is to allow us to take some time to destress and practice mindfulness. Mindfulness is a mental state achieved by focusing one's awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one's feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations and its often used as a therapeutic technique. On Monday we will do this by focusing on our snowflakes, ornaments and the Hot Coco. We hope to do more Mindful Mondays in the future, and we hope to see you there!
Best wishes,
The Well Space Team

Lucy Coronel-Custodian
Written by Mari Mendoza
Mrs. Coronel, the diligent Custodian at VP, has a background shaped by her experiences in Mexico and a passion for working with children. Her high school years were spent in Mexico, where she actively participated in sports, particularly volleyball. Post-graduation, Mrs. Coronel made her way to the United States and began her career journey. Prior to joining VP, she worked at an agency that collaborated with schools and contributed her efforts at Nohl Canyon Elementary. March 2023 marked the beginning of her role as Custodian at VP, a position she cherishes. Mrs. Coronel’s favorite memory at VP revolves around fulfilling her long-standing desire to work with kids, relishing the daily interactions with young minds, and fostering positive relationships with her colleagues. With four kids of her own, Mrs. Coronel brings a genuine passion for working with children to her role, making her an invaluable member of the VP community.
Jonathan Pongco - Assistant Principal
Graduating from Westminster High School in 1999, Mr. Pongco has dedicated 25 years of service to educating our students. During his time at Westminster High School, Mr. Pongco was active in marching, concert, and jazz bands for all four years; not to mention, drumline as well. Following graduation, Mr. Pongco enrolled at Vanguard University for his undergraduate studies, and later attended Concordia for his Masters. Majoring in history and political science, Mr. Pongco was also involved in Vanguard’s History Honors Society and worked at Stater Brothers throughout college. His passion for education can be seen here in Orange Unified while teaching history at El Modena High School and later serving as Assistant Principal at Portola Middle School. Joining the Villa Park family roughly two years ago as Assistant Principal of Curriculum and Instruction, his favorite experiences thus far have always been the bonding experiences he has made with students and teachers alike. Furthermore, some fun facts about Mr. Pongco includes his relative fluency in Greek; his love for technology and video games; and his big family of six kids!
