Wrapping up the first nine weeks.....
As we wrap up the month of September, we are quickly approaching the end of the first nine weeks grading period. It is super important that our students make sure they finish all outstanding assignments and put forth a little extra in their studies as we get to end of unit type assessment in many grades and courses.
The end of the nine weeks is always tricky as grades go through a make or break scenario. If you a great grade, work hard and keep it there, if you have started a little slow, work hard and put the effort to finish strong. Don't just give up on grades either way. Remember, in middle and high school, grades are averaged with a number at the end of a year. There is a huge difference between an 85B and a 92B. Get all the points that you can get.
Finish strong. Parents help us out and remind them to do so.
Have a great week.
Your Partner in Education,
Superintendent Tommy Byler

- The Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE) is the governing body of the education system in Louisiana. You can find a wealth of information on their website louisianabelieves.com.
- The BESE board, short for the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, is an elected board that oversees the LDOE. Eight elected members from across the state and three governor appointees make up this board. Just to make you aware, the BESE elections will take place on October 14th with the many other municipal elections. Vermilion voters have a three person BESE race that will take place. Take some time and educate yourself on the candidates.
- The Vermilion Parish General Fund and Special Fund budgets are mandated to be placed on the parish website by September 30th. Our approved budget is not located on the homepage at the bottom under mandated documents.
