Arrival/Dismissal Procedures
For the safety of all students there are drop off and arrival procedures. Arrival begins at 8:40 a.m. and ends at 9:10 a.m. During arrival all students should be dropped off in the large event parking lot. During arrival the front parking lot is reserved for buses only. For safety reasons, this policy will be strictly enforced and repeated offenses will be forwarded to the District Director of Security.
It remains the policy that all Pre-K students be checked in and out when dropped off and picked up from school. Each morning Pre-K students should be dropped off and checked in using the event parking lot located on the side of the building. Afternoon Pre-K students should be picked up and signed out at the main entrance parking lot. We ask that Pre-K parents park their vehicle in an appropriate parking space and walk the students to the door. Please refrain from parking in the bus lane, driveway, car rider line, in between cars in the small section of the lot, etc. Pre-K students cannot be received in the car line. The Pre-K staff will be available at the door to receive the children each day. Please notify the teachers if someone other than you will be picking up your child. Please inform the adult picking up your child of the check in and out policy. Pick up time for Pre-K starts at 3:30 p.m. and ends promptly at 3:45 p.m. to make room for the buses.
We asked that all kindergarten and first grade parents remain in their vehicles or park in an appropriate parking space in the large event parking lot during arrival and dismissal and refrain from parking in the driveway, car rider line, in between cars in the small section of the lot, etc. This is a safety hazard for our students and it delays the arrival and dismissal process. Pick up time for kindergarten and first grade students starts at 3:50 p.m. and ends around 4:15 p.m.
These simple procedures ensure the safety of our students. Safety is our top priority! Thank you for your cooperation.
Preschool Message
Medical Documentation
Preschool programs have federal requirements around children’s physical exams and are required to assure that all children are healthy and up to date on their physical exams. Federal regulations require that preschool programs obtain documentation, signed by licensed health care providers, indicating that enrolled children have had current physical exams. Being compliant with up-to-date physicals is a key priority for Abraham Lincoln School.
Starting on November 21, 2023, all students enrolled at Abraham Lincoln School Preschool program, must have a current medical form (physical) signed by a licensed physician on file, updated immunizations (shot records), and a dental provider listed in Final Forms (completed dental form is preferred). After November 21, 2023, students will not be able to continue participation in the preschool program until this requirement has been met.
If you need assistance obtaining a medical form for your child, the Cleveland Clinic Mobile Unit, located at Abraham Lincoln School, might be able to provide assistance. A registration packet for the Cleveland Clinic Mobile Unit can be obtained in the school’s main office. The completed registration packet should be returned to the main office. You can also, scan the QR Code to register.
Thank you for your prompt attention to this urgent matter. Please feel free to contact me at Abraham Lincoln School, at (216) 438-6030, ext. 5001, with any questions or concerns.
Importance of Sight Words
Parents/Families, Sight words are common words that kids recognize instantly without sounding them out. Recognizing words by sight helps kids become faster, more fluent readers. Many sight words are tricky to read and spell — they aren't spelled the way they sound.
Doing flash cards with your child(ren) at home can help them be more successful at school. Here are the Sight Words our KG and 1st graders are expected to know by the end of each grade. You will also see the 2nd grade list, when they master KG & 1st, move them to 2nd grade.

November: Gobbling up PRIDE!
Parents our next PRIDE initiative focuses on dismissal and each dismissal area will be earning their own rewards. Mrs. Norman has a turkey for each car rider room, each bus line, and daycare. Each area’s goal is to earn 10 feathers for their turkey.
Starting November 1st, teachers will read social stories to help students get settled and pre-correct before the start of dismissal. There is one for 'before you leave the classroom' and then one for each 'dismissal area'. There is also a "checklist" as a visual for students to see what is needed. If MOST of the room (we all have those outliers...) is showing PRIDE, then a feather can be added to the turkey. The goal is 10 feathers by the end of November. Our reward is still TBD but will most likely be a snack that can be passed out at dismissal. What dismissal areas will earn 10 or more feathers for their turkeys?
Students of the Month for OCTOBER!
Congratulations to the students that earned Student of the Month for showing Mustang P.R.I.D.E. in October! Please keep up the good work and keep being positive examples to your peers.
