2024 - 2025
January 17, 2025
Happy Friday, Kegonsa!
I hope you are looking forward to a wonderful long weekend! As a reminder, there will be no school on Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Additionally, please note that we will have a half day on Friday, January 24. This week, we successfully rolled out our peer mentoring program, and it is going wonderfully for both our mentors and mentees!
Our 5th graders had an exciting field trip to the Overture Center where they learned about dinosaurs at the Rise of T-Rex. Meanwhile, our Kindergarten students enjoyed a visit to Lake Kegonsa State Park. It has been delightful to see everyone enjoying the warmer weather.
We appreciate all of you so much! See everyone back at school on Tuesday, 1/21. 💙Erin

📖 Kegonsa LMC: Where Learning Happens 📖
Dear Kegonsa Families,
At Kegonsa LMC, our recent focus has been on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its impact on our daily lives. We introduced students to AI through engaging videos that highlighted its capabilities and how it can simplify tasks to make life easier. Next, we will dive into coding, teaching students the foundational skills to understand and create the very technology that powers AI.
In January, our library will highlight two significant events as part of our commitment to promoting education, reflection, and understanding:
January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day – A day to learn about the life and legacy of Dr. King, his fight for civil rights, and the ongoing importance of equality and justice for all.
January 27: International Holocaust Remembrance Day – A time to honor the memory of Holocaust victims and explore lessons from history that promote compassion, tolerance, and respect for humanity. We aim to create meaningful learning opportunities that foster empathy and awareness in our students.
We’re excited to announce our new subscription to BookBreak, an incredible resource that brings bestselling authors to K-12 schools each month through live-streamed events tailored to specific grade levels. Students will have the opportunity to hear from inspiring, age-appropriate authors at least once a month, with recordings available anytime for added flexibility. We’re confident this resource will ignite a love for reading and creativity among our students!
Please, reach out with any questions or concerns! Thank you for your ongoing support and engagement!
We're getting a new playground!
