Wolverine Weekly Updates
Week of March 31 - April 4
A Message from Mrs. Ushery
Greetings Wynbrooke Family,
We’ve had a great March Madness month of teaching and learning at Wynbrooke, and we’re getting closer to the GA Milestones—only 18 instructional days away! We need all students here EVERY DAY, ready to learn. Please review the Milestones dates and utilize the Milestones Resources at home (see the section below), including the GA Online Experience, which you can complete with your child.
🚨 This week, our scholars in Grades K-3 will be taking the MAP Fluency Assessment! 🚨 This is an important measure to monitor oral reading fluency, literal comprehension, and foundational reading skills, while also screening for potential risk factors of dyslexia or other reading difficulties. Please ensure your child is present and ready to do their best!
🔹 Attendance Reminder:
We need your support in ensuring your child arrives at school on time. Students can be dropped off between 7:00 - 7:45 AM and are considered tardy at 7:46 AM. To help ease morning traffic, we encourage families to arrive early.
🔹 Morning Car Rider Drop-Off Reminder:
Morning car rider drop-off ends at 7:45 AM. If you arrive after this time, you must park and walk your child inside to sign them in for school. Let's work together to ensure our scholars start their day on time and ready to succeed!
🔹 March Madness Lexile Challenge:
We’re finishing up our March Madness Lexile Challenge! t’s not too late! Encourage your child to read, read, read and complete assignments in RAZ Kids, check out books from our media center to take quizzes on Accelerated Reader, and engage with other learning platforms provided by their teacher. Help us boost our students' Lexile levels by ensuring they read 20-30 minutes daily.
Thank you to everyone who attended our Math and Literacy Night—it was an amazing experience and a fun time for all! Shout out to our amazing TEACHERS who put this awesome event together!
As we prepare for Spring Break April 7-11, we encourage you to take time to relax and enjoy, but also remember to have our scholars read every day.
Thank you for your continued support in making Wynbrooke a great place to learn and grow!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Proud to be your principal,

Greetings Wynbrooke Families!
Thank you to all the families that have donated items and/or time this week. We appreciate all you do! Remember you are required to complete 8 volunteer hours for each semester for a total of 16 to be completed May 16, 2025. For every $10 that is spent, you will earn 1 volunteer hour or the time spent assisting during school events can also count towards your hours. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to email me at Jaumekia_M_Caver@dekalbschoolsga.org
If there is a sibling at another Dekalb County Theme School, you will only need to complete 8 hours here and also 8 hours at the other school. I can provide a letter to show completion of 8 hours here.
Please use the link below to see our current volunteer opportunities. Please remember when dropping off items in the front office to label them with your child’s name and homeroom teacher along with the receipt to ensure you get your credit.

Media Center Updates
From the desk of Ms. Jelks, Media Specialist
Dear Parents,
Reading opens the door to new worlds, sparks creativity, and keeps our minds engaged even while we rest. We encourage all students to make reading a daily habit and take advantage of the wonderful opportunities available through Beanstack!
Students, we invite you to track your reading on Beanstack to stay motivated and monitor your progress over time. By logging in through Clever, you can record the books you read each day, participate in monthly reading challenges, and even earn badges and rewards! We encourage students of all grade levels to read independently for at least 20 minutes each day.
Parents, you play a vital role in fostering a love for reading. You can support your child’s reading journey by setting aside dedicated reading time, engaging in discussions about books, or making visits to your local library a part of your routine.
We look forward to hearing about the amazing books your children discover!
Happy Reading!
Ms. Ashlee Jelks

Parent Resources
Mark your calendars today!
Make note of our very important Spring testing dates!
New Dates! Please review the changes!
If you are looking for resources to help your student prepare for the Georgia Milestones, please visit:https://gadoe.org/assessment-accountability/georgia-milestones/
You will find parent information flyers, printable study resource guides, links to practice sites, and more...
Also work with your scholar to complete the Experience Online Testing Georgia practice site lets students see what testing online is like. Parents and educators are welcome to try it too. The items on the demonstration tests are general and are organized by grade or course in the content areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The guides and demonstration tests are not graded, so have fun!
The items do not necessarily represent the specific grade-level content that students learn daily in their classrooms. The primary purpose is to let students experience, firsthand, the functionality of the online testing platform. The sample tests are not graded.
