The students worked as a team processing a mock crime scene while competing against several other schools around the state. Students had to search a crime scene, identify and process evidence, conduct measurements, photograph the scene/evidence, and prepare a sketch of the scene. They also had to demonstrate basic crime scene skills such as lifting fingerprints, swabbing serological evidence, and submit a detailed report. The competition was judged by area professionals in law enforcement.
Experience PPAC
On February 27, the English Department took over 150 10th-grade students to Providence for the “Experience PPAC” program, a statewide educational initiative that began in the 2019-2020 season at the Providence Performing Arts Center. This program allows 10th grade students from across Rhode Island to attend matinee performances of select touring Broadway shows at no cost, with busing expenses reimbursed. Ponaganset students joined peers from around the state to enjoy the Broadway-acclaimed musical &Juliet, a modern twist on Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet.
Visiting Artist - Tim Jones
On February 28, Tim Jones, the creator of the popular and self-syndicated comic strip Sour Grapes, visited with students in the Visual Arts pathway. During the session, he shared his journey from stand-up comedian to successful cartoonist. He also walked the students through his creative process for developing characters and encouraged them to illustrate their own version of Aesop, one of the main characters from his strip. Sour Grapes is based on his life and appears in 47 newspapers, including the Valley Breeze.

Through the process, students develop skills in communication, project management, and historical thinking. NHD’s 2025 theme is Rights & Responsibilities in History.
Ponaganset will send 14 student projects to the state competition held at CCRI on April 26. State winners have the opportunity to advance to the National Competition held at the University of Maryland in June.
