Tiger Tale

Dewey's 5Cs
At Dewey, we strive to develop the 5Cs in our students: Collaboration, Creativity, Communication, Critical Thinking and Courage. We launched the 5Cs last year in our Maker Lab and Art Studio and are working to expand learning opportunities across our campus. The first step is to develop common language and expectations for each of the 5Cs. Each week in either Make Lab or the Art Studio, discussion will focus on a different "C". This week, students are talking about Collaboration. Our goal is that all students and staff will have the opportunity to help create the common language and expectations for each trait. In addition, we will be having a schoolwide graphic design challenge that shows the connectedness of the 5Cs.
Each week The Tiger Tale will be highlighting our students' input for each of the 5Cs. To help with this process, ask your child what they think collaboration means. What does it look like in the classroom? What does it look like on the playground and at home? Our goal is to have community discussions around these very important traits. Your conversations at home help enrich the learning we do at school.
Thank you for your continued support and collaboration in your child's educational process!
Warmest regards,
Sabrina Parsley, Principal
Complete the Annual Student Information Update by Aug. 31

Dewey Maker Lab
It’s back! This year, half of the school will come weekly for the first half of the year, then the other half of the school will come weekly the 2nd half of the year. Don’t worry if your child doesn’t start next week- everyone will have equal opportunity to DESIGN, BUILD, and CREATE in the Maker Lab.
The Maker Lab runs on your donations. There is a box for all donations in the office hallway. All cardboard tubes, craft supplies, duct tape, etc. are appreciated. Don’t keep google eyes around your house, but you still want to give? There is an Amazon Wish List: Dewey Maker Lab Wish List
Right now, the Maker Lab is needing your Hex Bugs that are no longer being played with. Give the bugs a second life, give them to the Maker Lab.
