Meet the Assistant Principal
Back to School 2024-2025
Highland Elementary School
Hello Families!
My name is Lisa Harrison and I am the new Assistant Principal at Highland Elementary School. I am very excited about the opportunity to work with families, staff and the community to continue the amazing work that is already in progress! I have included some information about myself below so that you can get to know me and understand my goals and vision. I look forward to working together this upcoming school year!
My Career
- Earned my BA in Elementary Education from Judson University in 2006
- Taught Reading, English and History/Social Studies since 2006 in School District U-46
- Coached Varsity and Junior Varsity volleyball for School District U-46 for 18 seasons
- Earned my MA in Educational Administration from Concordia University in 2010
My Interests
Family
One of my favorite things to do is spend time with my family. My husband, Alec, daughter, Faith, and son, Axel, love to spend time together outdoors and trying new sports. Recently, both my children have taken up soccer and I am loving every minute of it! During the summer, we love to take trips to Wisconsin to spend time with relatives and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
Sports
Playing sports and coaching sports are one of my favorite things to do! I have been a volleyball coach for over 20 years and have coached over 20 seasons of middle school, high school and club volleyball. In addition to coaching and mentoring young athletes on the court, I still continue to play and am currently a member of the national over 40 year old champion volleyball team!
My Philosophy of Education
I believe that all students deserve a hands on and rigorous education. Students learn best when they are given opportunities to work together and practice the material with their peers. I believe that ALL students can learn and thrive here at Highland.
