A Loss in Our Spring Mills Community
On Thursday, I shared the message below. It is directly related to the tragic loss of a student at Spring Mills High School.

It is with deep regret that we share news of a recent loss within our Spring Mills School community. This loss undoubtedly brings forth a wave of emotions, questions, and concerns for both students and staff alike.
We understand the profound impact this loss may have, and we are committed to supporting each and every member of our school family during this difficult time. Our dedicated school counselors are available to offer assistance and guidance to any student who may need it.
Please know that we are here for you, and we will do everything in our power to help navigate through this period of grief and healing.
9th Grade Schedules and Honors Summer Assignments
All 8th grade students will receive their high school schedules next week. Additionally, there may be summer assignments associated with their 9th grade courses.
- Please see the attached assignment if your 8th grade student enrolled in Honors English 9.
- There is no summer Assignment for AP World History per Mr. Mauck the AP World History teacher.

7th Grade Field Trip
On Wednesday, our 7th grade students visited Antietam Rec for the day. Students had a wide selection of activities in which to participate.
Golden Horseshoe Winners Announced
Four of our students were awarded the distinction of the Golden Horseshoe this week. Congratulations to the following 8th grade students:

- Konnor Martin
- Kellen Short
- Sterling Vongtip
Special thanks also goes out to Mr. Black and Ms. Gardner for their dedication to students and support throughout the year in WV Studies.
Looking for Volunteers
On May 24, we will host a carnival to celebrate the end of a Better than Good year. Our carnival will include a dunk tank, GIANT inflatable obstacle course, cotton candy, and carnival games.

County Chess Champion
This past week, Josiah Cosby won the county chess championship. Way to go, Josiah!
Immunization Reminder- 6th Grade Parents
Reminder to all parents of 6th graders. The Tdap and Meningitis vaccines are required for all students entering 7th grade. Please make your appointment now to have these completed and submit an updated copy of your child's immunization record to Mrs. Dagostino, School Nurse.

6th Grade Field Day
The 6th grade homerooms competed for dominance this week in our field day games. The winners are as follows:
- Spirit Award: Huffer
- Sportsmanship Award: Shockley
- 3rd Place: DeLuca
- 2nd Place: Clark
- 1st Place: Shockley
7th Grade Field Day
The 7th grade homerooms also competed this week for homeroom dominance.
Bedington Ruritan Essay Contest Winners
Two of our students were recognized this week at the Bedington Ruritan for their essays about their role model. Conratulations to Olivia Henderson and Jabree Gross.
Spaghetti Towers in 6th Grade Science
Students worked in small groups to design and build spaghetti towers in science class this week.
