Picture Day is Here
Tuesday, October 18th, is individual picture day. Students will go out to the Azalea Garden with their classes and take individual pictures. There will be make up days for students who are absent. Those dates will be shared at a later date.
October 20th, is Great Shake Out day. This means this is the day identified to practice preparedness for earthquakes. The students at TPES will be practicing how to "Drop, Cover & Hold" procedure in the event of an earthquake. They will be directed to get under furniture, cover their heads and hold on the the base of the furniture. This drill is done every year and will not be new for children who were with us last year. The drill lasts about 4-5 minutes and is mostly about awareness.

The TPES Word Parade
The TPES Word Parade will take place on October 21, 2022 at 10:15 a.m. Students in all grades will pick a describing word (an adjective) and dress as that word. Please remember that all outfits/costumes must be age and school appropriate. When they arrive at school, the homeroom teacher will write their word on an index card necklace. Here is a list of some appropriate examples.
For further examples, please type "Vocabulary Parade" on Google. There are some wonderful photos and ideas!
Cozy, wacky, backwards, scientist, math, happy, puzzle, jungle, purple(any color), fuzzy, colorful, cat (any animal), doctor (any occupation), etc. There are pictures below giving examples. Please avoid choosing inappropriate words that might frighten small children. Each student will select a word that will become a costume. Put your thinking caps on! How can you show the word sparkly, strong, or fuzzy? Design a costume to show the word. From A to Z, the entire dictionary is possible! Thank you for your help making vocabulary instruction fun!
When: Friday, October 21st at 10 am.
Where: Students will march around the perimeter of the school. Parents are invited to watch from the back playground, the bus loop, the front car loop, or side loading dock.
In case of bad weather, students will parade inside. Parents will not be able to attend. A Connect-ED will be sent in this event.
We want this to be a fun event for all involved so it is important that scary or gory descriptions of words be avoided. Any costume deemed inappropriate will not be allowed to be worn.
