Great Pumpkin Mile
There is something special about crossing a finish line, regardless of the event or distance. We had a lot of fun on Thursday with our second annual Great Pumpkin Mile.
Participation was very high, and the weather couldn't have been better. Staff marshaled the course and kids walked or ran. The goal was to beat the Great Pumpkin to the finish line to earn credit for their Roundtables. Afterwards, the kids had snacks and drinks and hung out with their friends. We were very pleased with the event and how well it went.
If you are curious, these were our top finishers by group:
8th Grade Boys
1. Jackson Garcia
2. Josh Varney
8th Grade Girls
1. Sophia Souza
2. Grace Bussiere
7th Grade Boys
1. Owen Chadbourne
2. Norman Albert
7th Grade Girls
1. Isla Southwick
2. Olivia Eugley
Tri-Town Family 5K - 13th Year!
Speaking of finish lines! Whittier Middle School's Tri-Town Family 5K will take place on Sunday, November 10th, 2024 and it is open to everyone. Join us for a fun family morning on the Minot trails and fields.
Registration is open...and it's free! Registration will close on Saturday, November 9 at 10:00am. You can register at the event, but it's a big help if you register in advance. Visit the website to register or get more information.
We could use some volunteers! If you are able to help on the course or at the water station, please contact Shannon Shanning (sshanning@rsu16.org). We also welcome volunteered teenagers.
Ms. Adler: School Dance
Principal Tip: Picking up kids after the dance can be quite a process. Consider parking in the lot closest to school (the teacher/visitor parking lot), let your child know you will be there, and ask them to meet you over there. The lineup for pickup sometimes reaches the street.
National History Day
Mrs. Gilbert: Civil Rights Team
Our Civil Rights Team is hard at work preparing for our Day of Welcome, where schools celebrate welcoming everyone, regardless of their national origin and ancestry, religion, race and skin color, disabilities, gender including identity and expression, and sexual orientation.
We will be selling bracelets to celebrate individuality for $1.00 on Friday, November 8th at school and at our dance. Proceeds will go towards the Civil Rights Team to plan projects for the school.
Ms. Carmody: Stitch Club Couture
Mrs. Goss: Math Club
