BES Parent Weekly Email
August 9, 2024
From the Principal
Thank you for a great first full week of school! We have been able to get our students in some good routines, and our teachers have already been able to begin teaching new content.
Car Dismissal - Thank you so much for your patience as we get everyone used to our dismissal. All of the car lines seem to be going fairly smoothly.
3rd Grade Parents - We are not able to begin calling cars until about 2:40pm when buses are all dismissed. You may want to come a few minutes later, if you do not want to wait in line. We have been finishing calling the third grade car riders by about 2:47pm.
Bus - Remind your students to follow all bus rider expectations. We have a good many bus riders this year. If students do not follow these expectations, they will not be allowed to ride the bus.
If myself or Mrs. Lance can ever be of any assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us.
Have a fantastic weekend!
Mr. Fowler

Parent Tip
When should my child go to sleep?
According to the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, students in 3-5th grade should get 9-12 hours of sleep per night. I would suggest setting a goal as a family to have a consistent bed time each night, and a consistent time for your child to wake up. This little adjustment can make your mornings go more smoothly, and your child to be more alert at school to learn new information.
iReady Diagnostic
We will be taking our Fall iReady Reading Diagnostic on Tuesday and our Math Diagnostic on Thursday. Students will take this diagnostic in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. We are able to use this data to monitor their progress.
iReady Tips
- Sleep - Be sure to get your child in bed at a decent time.
- Breakfast - Eat breakfast at home or arrive to school early enough for breakfast at school
- Be Prompt - Arrive to school early
- Encourage - Encourage your child just to do their best and not to rush.

Reminders
Tardy Bell
The tardy bell will ring at 7:45am. Students must be in their classroom by 7:45am in order to not be tardy. Parents must park and walk their child in if they are tardy.
Early Dismissal
Students will not be allowed to be dismissed from class after 2:00pm without administrator approval. Please plan doctor appointments accordingly.
Free Lunch
Breakfast and Lunch are free for all of our students this year! The cafeteria may sell snacks for extra cost once the year gets going. We will communicate that to you when it gets started.
