The warrior news 9th edition

Our students have been busy over the past two weeks, diving into hands-on learning and exciting activities! Mr. Reed visited Social Studies classrooms to distribute and teach students how to use their stylus pens, equipping them with a valuable tool for their digital work. Our 8th graders also got creative with a character “autopsy” project, analyzing characters from The Outsiders in a fun and interactive way.

In addition, we’re so proud of our Band and Orchestra students who held their first concert of the year—showcasing their hard work and talent for our community. We’re thrilled to see students fully engaged and thriving in these experiences!

As we dive deeper into the school year, we want to thank you for your continued support and partnership. Please remember to check in with your child about their assignments and progress, as well as upcoming school events.

Nuestros estudiantes han estado ocupados durante las últimas dos semanas, sumergiéndose en actividades prácticas y emocionantes! El Sr. Reed visitó aulas de Estudios Sociales para distribuir y enseñar a los estudiantes cómo usar sus lápices táctiles, proporcionándoles una herramienta valiosa para su trabajo digital. Nuestros estudiantes de 8º grado también se pusieron creativos con un proyecto de “autopsia” de personajes, analizando los personajes de The Outsiders de una manera divertida e interactiva.

Además, estamos muy orgullosos de nuestros estudiantes de Banda y Orquesta, quienes realizaron su primer concierto del año, mostrando su arduo trabajo y talento a nuestra comunidad. Estamos encantados de ver a los estudiantes completamente comprometidos y prosperando en estas experiencias.

Our AIME students are having a fantastic time in music class as they learn to play instruments and sing! It's wonderful to see their excitement and enthusiasm as they explore new skills and grow their love for music. We’re proud of their progress and can’t wait to see how they continue to develop their talents.

¡Nuestros estudiantes de AIME están disfrutando mucho de su clase de música mientras aprenden a tocar instrumentos y a cantar! With the weather starting to change, now is a great time to make sure your student has an extra sweatshirt and pair of sweatpants to keep in their PE locker for cooler days. For students with PE earlier in the day, an extra pair of gym shoes is also a good idea, as the ground can be wet with dew, leading to damp shoes and socks.

Thank you for helping keep our students comfortable and ready for each day’s activities!

We want to extend our heartfelt congratulations to our student athletes for successfully completing their season! A big shout-out to our girls' basketball team, boys' soccer team, and cross country team for their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the season. Our teams worked hard to reach our district tournaments, and they made us very proud!

We also want to express our gratitude to the coaches for their incredible guidance and support. Your commitment to fostering a positive and encouraging environment for our athletes is truly appreciated.

We could not be more proud of such a wonderful season and the growth our students have shown, both on and off the field. Thank you to all the parents and families for your support—your encouragement means so much!

¡Queremos extender nuestras más sinceras felicitaciones a nuestros estudiantes atletas por completar con éxito su temporada! Un gran reconocimiento a nuestro equipo de baloncesto femenino, al equipo de fútbol masculino y al equipo de campo traviesa por su arduo trabajo, dedicación y espíritu deportivo a lo largo de la temporada. ¡Nuestros equipos trabajaron arduamente para llegar a los torneos del distrito y nos hicieron sentir muy orgullosos!

We are excited for the upcoming book fair and can’t wait to see the students explore all the wonderful books!

We could use a little help from our parents. Below are the ways you can assist:

• Setting up the book fair: Monday, November 18, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
• Watching/helping students: Tuesday to Friday (November 19-22) from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
• Packing up the book fair: At the end of parent-teacher conferences on Monday night, November 25, from about 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Parent-teacher conferences will be held on November 25th and 26th at all District 15 schools.

Please note that the conference format at the middle school differs slightly from the elementary schools. Middle school conferences are team conferences facilitated by team request. If your child's team wishes to have a conference with you, you will receive a phone call requesting you to sign up for a conference. These conferences can be held in person.

We kindly request that you attend the team conference with your child present.

If you miss our call and receive an email or a message from your grade level team requesting a conference, please take the time to contact us. On November 15ht he sign-up window will be open for parents to view the availability of team conferences to the rest of our parent community.

We are planning some activities for Veterans Day. We are reaching out to our community to see if there are any veterans that would be willing to be part of our celebration. Please enter your Veteran's first and last name and what branch they served in this form. We will send them an invitation for the event. Please add your email for details. Please note that due to space only 1-2 additional families can attend with your beloved Veteran. Thank you for your understanding.

We would also like to construct a Wall of Honor for the families members of our community that have served or are currently serving in the Armed Forces. If you would like to have your family member highlighted on the Wall of Honor we are asking the following:

• Send Mrs. Macias picture of your veteran
• Provide a brief description of the veteran that includes their name, the years they have served, the branch they served with and their rank.
• We would like to received those photos between November 5th

The photos will be returned to the students after November 20th.

We’re excited to announce that this year's fall dance theme will be Hollywood! The dance will take place on Thursday, November 7th, from 2:30 to 3:45 p.m.

We will be selling pizza, chips, and water during the event. Tickets will be available for purchase next week during lunch periods. Students will also have the option to take the activity bus home after the dance.

We look forward to an exciting celebration!

Boys' basketball practice will start on Monday November 4th, right after school. Practices will be held Monday through Thursday from 2:45-3:45 p.m. Please note that there will be no practice next Tuesday and Thursday. Please contact the coaches if you have any questions or concerns:

We realize that the Middle School athletic events are fun to attend and we have enjoyed having spectators come to the games. If students choose to attend away games at Carl Sandburg, Plum Grove, Sundling, or TJ, it's expected that a parent comes with the students to the game and stays the entire time.

The CHAMPS expectations for spectator behavior are the same at each school in our district. Please remember you are a representative of our school when visiting another school.

Students, from another school, who come in without a parent or guardian will not be permitted to attend the game.

Any elementary or junior high student that attends a Palatine High School athletic event, must be accompanied by a parent/guardian for the duration of the event. If any student exhibits inappropriate behavior as deemed by PHS administration, they will be asked to leave the event. Inappropriate behavior includes but is not limited to: verbal and/or physical altercations, insubordination, and disruption.

If a student attempts to gain entry without a guardian, they will not be permitted to enter the stadium. Parents and students, thank you for your cooperation.
