Teachers and Students Connecting!
WAVA Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Kim Lamb
Learn about stained glass art with our own WAVA teacher Kim Lamb!
I am Kim Lamb and I live in Moses Lake, Washington. I am in my 15th year teaching, and in my 6th year with WAVA. I currently teach kindergarten but have taught students in grades K-12 in both general education and special education settings!
I started learning the craft of stained glass using the Tiffany method with copper foil and solder about 1 ½ years ago, November of 2020. I used books and videos to teach myself this artform after having an interest in learning since I was in 3rd grade after a school friend showed me her parent’s glass studio.
I have purchased some patterns but draw/create many of my own patterns now and have fallen in love with glass art and the process of creating! I mostly create artwork for family and friends but have sold several pieces as well and have a waiting list of items that people want to commission once school is out for the summer! I learn something new with every piece that I create and am excited when I see people’s faces light up while looking at my artwork! I encourage anybody that has an interest in attempting something new to give it a try!
4th Grader Ilyannie Gonzalez goes to Nationals!
Congratulations to WAVA 4th Grader Ilyannie Gonzalez! This is her 2nd time winning Regionals for WAVA in the Elementary School Division. Ilyannie will be heading to Nationals to compete in the Stride Spelling Bee on May 24th! Good Luck, we are so proud of you and all of our contestants!
