Connect with Counselor Collins
May Newsletter, 2024
Hello there Line Creek Family,
This year as a counseling department we supported 80 students for counseling services. These services could be triage, individual and small group counseling, student planning, or crisis support. Our total enrollment at Line Creek is 348 students. To know we were able to reach 22% of our school community and support their social-emotional learning shows the importance of student, parent, and teacher partnerships.
Feel free to review Line Creek's School Counseling Department End of the Year Data Report.
If your student was placed on a Tier 2 intervention (individual or small group counseling, check in check out, triage, etc.) or Tier 3 plan (Behavior Improvement Plan) during the 2023-2024 school year, you may receive a notification that students will start the year on their plan to continue supports. This will help staff review expectations with students and help students start with success.
Line Creek received notification that we earned the PBIS Tier 3 Award of Excellence (Gold). This award is a representation of all the wonderful work everyone, including our students and parents have put into implementing and supporting PBIS schoolwide. Way to go Lions!!
I hope you and your child had a successful year of learning, growing, and building relationships. It was a pleasure serving as your school counselor for another year. I hope you and your child(ren) benefited from counselor materials and services this year.
I am not working summer school at Line Creek this year, but I look forward to welcoming everyone back in August. Be sure to do something this summer that makes you and your family happy! You are seen, significant, and bold.
With care and appreciation,
~Mrs. Collins
Grade Level Lesson Review
Kinder-2nd grade
Kindergarten: Focused on turning their mistakes into something beautiful. We read the story, "Beautiful Oops," to guide our learning. They learned mistakes can help them grow, create healthy friendships, and problem solve.
1st and 2nd grade: Focused on cooperation. One way to think about cooperation is "working together to reach a shared goals." Skills we worked on: communicating with kindness and understanding how our actions impact others.
3rd-4th Grade: I'm in Charge
5th Grade
With MAP testing and all of the fun 5th grade end of the year events, we focused on community building to help with middle school transition and continue creating fun elementary experiences.
Park Hill's Bullying Policy
In Park Hill School District, we define bullying by 3 indicators:
- Behavior is repeated
- Intent to harm (behavior occurred on purpose)
- Imbalance of power (student has a hard time defending themselves)-i.e. disability, age gap, number of people involved, weight, etc.
