Bringing Cedar Trails Red Hawks' Values Home!
Your Cedar Trails Red Hawks have learned and practiced our PBIS goals all year. We have become experts at being KIND, SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, and BRAVE. Here are a few ways to incorporate our goals at home all summer long...
Lead by example! Model the kind of behavior you want to see in your children.
Set home routines and expectations! Children are successful when they know what to expect.
End of day CHECK! Talk with your child about what he did to be kind, safe, brave, or responsible.
Set a goal for the next day on how to demonstrate one of these behavior expectations (ex. Tomorrow, I will be responsible for cleaning up my bedroom)
Get creative! Find ways to use our PBIS goals in your home and community. You can bring flowers to a lonely neighbor, host a free lemonade stand, or include your children with chores/tasks around the house. Explain the “why” and have fun!
Use PBIS language every day! Remind your child to be KIND, SAFE, RESPONSIBLE, BRAVE every day, and celebrate when you “catch” her demonstrating these behaviors.

Young Five Class Learning About Plans!
Our Young Five classes recently began their CKLA unit on plants. To kick off their learning, they visited the high school greenhouse to see all the plants the agriculture students have been growing (hanging baskets, potted flowers, cucumbers, peppers, and tomatoes). All of these plants will be sold by the FFA on Friday, May 10 from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. They will be located on the front lawn of the high school. Be sure to by to support the FFA!

End-of-Year Field Trips for 2nd and 3rd Graders!
We are excited to announce upcoming field trips that will be both educational and exciting!
This month, our 2nd graders are looking forward to a fun-filled day at John Ball Zoo, where they'll get up close with the animals.
Meanwhile, our 3rd graders are set for an adventure to the Grand Rapids Museum and will also experience the wonders of the Planetarium.
These trips are wonderfully aligned with the CKLA curriculum, enhancing the learning happening in their classrooms.
Thank You PTO for Support to Bring Our Learning to Life!
A big thank you to the PTO for your incredible support of events at Beach Elementary this year, enhancing our CKLA curriculum. Your contributions from the walk-a-thon made it possible for our 2nd graders to enjoy a puppet show that brought their fairy tales unit to life. Meanwhile, our 3rd graders had the opportunity to meet and learn about animals from John Ball Zoo, complementing their study of the animal unit.
Your continued support truly enriches our students' learning experiences. Thank you, PTO!

Exciting Adventures for Our 4th Graders!
In mid-April, our 4th graders embarked on a thrilling journey downtown Cedar Springs for their annual walk to and from the movie theater. But wait, there's more! They're gearing up for another amazing trip—to the zoo as another experience as they go above and beyond our daily curriculum!
5th Grade Trip to Greenfield Village
The last week in May our 5th graders are gearing up for an epic journey to Greenfield Village! It's the first trip our Cedar view students have had the opportunity to visit, and it's going to be extraordinary. They'll be joined by a fantastic team of parent chaperones as they hop on charter buses and head to Detroit for an entire day packed with history and fun. It's the perfect chance to build upon all the amazing things we've already learned this year.
A Huge Thank You to Our Incredible PTO Team!
We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our amazing PTO members. Without their unwavering support, the fantastic field trips mentioned above simply wouldn't be possible. If you know a member of the PTO, please be sure to give them an extra special thanks from all of us here at Cedar View. Your dedication and hard work make a world of difference!
