Ravens Report
By: Jana, Kaia and Avery
Hello and welcome back to the Raven Report for the month of March.
We had some big events that happened this month but first a recap.
A Blackout Bingo event was set on February 24 with ONLY 4 days of completion, where classes put their efforts to support our local food bank. The Sr Boys Basketball team played an exhilarating game against Sherwood Heights on February 28 as well. Though losing the game, our players gave it their all. Now jumping into the lucky month of March, here are some important events that took place. 🍀
Sports
As the basketball season comes to an end, the badminton season starts, make sure to stay tuned for more exciting matches to come in the month of April. To wrap up the basketball season, we held a Senior Boys vs Senior Girls basketball game at lunch on March 10th. It was an exciting and close game but eventually the boys came up on top. The Archery team had a fantastic time at Lillian Shick for their tournament. Lyla Simmons hit the bullseye as she brought home gold.
Education
Back to the boring school stuff, report cards are now released in Powerschool. Parent-teacher interviews happened on Wednesday the 12th. The students had their trimester change with the 7s and 8s settling into their new CTF classes.
Ski trip
The Grade 9s had their ski trip. It was an early morning on the bus but the grade 9s still managed to go out there and have a great time! The pictures will be up on Instagram so check it out. Though the Grade 7s and 8s didn’t get to go, they stayed back and celebrated Pi day. They got to pie all their favourite math teachers.
Performing Arts
March 19th and 20th was full of excitement! The Performing Arts class has put together their annual play. This year it was Into the Woods Jr, a play by James Lapine. Thank you for buying tickets, we hope you enjoyed the show!
Spring Break
Spring break starts on March 21, 2025. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again when we come back on March 31!
Well it was a great month, and as the snow is melting we are one step closer to summer, stay tuned for next month's Ravens Report.
Pi Day Fun

Explore Collegiate Pathways
in 2025-26, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) will be expanding its Collegiate Pathways programming to provide more opportunities for more students across the Division. Opportunities are available for students entering or returning to Grade 12 in the fall. For students entering grades 10 or 11 next year, the available information will help with course planning throughout senior high.

A big THANK YOU to EIPS Volunteers
National Volunteer Week takes place April 27 to May 4. On behalf of the Board of Trustees at Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS), I want to say a giant thank you to all EIPS volunteers. This year’s theme is Volunteers Make Waves, and that’s certainly true in our Division. No matter whether you’ve chaperoned a field trip, helped out at a hot lunch day or provided support in a classroom—every time you’ve stepped in a school—you’ve made a ripple effect that washes over your community. These waves of positivity, hard work and dedication build up and make a momentous impact on a student’s experience at school.
So, thank you again for being a part of our ocean at EIPS. The waves you’ve made—and will continue to create—all contribute to our collective goals of ensuring learning and working environments sustain student learning and amplifying the importance of public education in our province. This National Volunteer Week, I encourage everyone to celebrate the hundreds of volunteers and thousands of hours put into supporting student growth and achievement at schools across the Division.

Watch for Thin Ice
Remember, be aware of thin ice this time of year. Depending on changing temperatures, ice can form and melt to varying degrees on outdoor bodies of water. Try to remind your child about the dangers of thin ice, obey all posted signs, take proper care and remain a safe distance from the ice.
For more information about ice safety, visit the Canadian Red Cross.
Did you know?
The colour of ice may be an indication of its strength. Clear blue ice is the strongest. White opaque is half as strong as blue ice. And, grey ice is unsafe—greyness indicates the presence of water.
Did you know?
EIPS prepares a budget in the spring based on projected enrolment, funding, estimated costs and Board of Trustees budget priorities. Before the Division can finalize its budget for the next school year, we need to wait for the provincial government to provide the funding manual for school authorities and EIPS’ funding profile. This year’s funding manual is expected to be released in early April and the funding profile should be available mid-March. EIPS plans to publish its spring budget in May. Learn more
