Dear Wildwood Families,

I am thrilled to announce that Wildwood Elementary has once again been named a California Distinguished School! Out of 5,859 public elementary schools in California, only 336 earned this prestigious distinction in 2025. Even more impressively, Wildwood is one of just two CVUSD elementary schools to earn this honor this year, alongside Banyan Elementary.

This incredible achievement adds to the recognition Wildwood has already received this year. We were ranked among the top public elementary schools in California by both Niche.com and U.S. News & World Report, with U.S. NEWS and World Report recognizing Wildwood Elementary as the #1 Elementary School In CVUSD (See HERE for details). These honors reflect the outstanding dedication of our teachers, staff, students, and families in creating an exceptional learning environment.

This recognition is a testament to the dedication, heart, and collaboration of our entire school community—students, teachers, staff, families, and PTA. Your commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and a supportive learning environment is what makes Wildwood such a special place.

Wow, Tigers! 1 full week into Jogathon fundraising and we have already raised over $34,000!!! Amazing!

We have donations from 37/50 states and even have donations from Australia, the UK, Canada, Germany, and Mexico! A HUGE congratulations to Mrs. Meiron's Neon Ninja's for being our Top Earning class this week, raising over $3,600 in just one week!

Just a few reminders:

• If you haven't registered on Get Movin' yet, please do so! You student gets a WILDWOOD bracelet and the whole class earns a certificate for a round of mini golf in Ventura once everyone in the class registers.
• Volunteers are needed on Jog Day (April 17) to help! Tally punching is such a fun way to get in all the action. Please use THIS LINK to sign up.
• Please thank your Room Parents for helping your class get in the Jog Spirit and decorating your student's classroom door. They are so fun, festive, and creative and the students love them!

Your Jog-A-Thon Committee

Your child's artwork went home in their Wednesday folder this week. Take a look at all the fun options and place an order! Orders are due 4/8 and will be sent home early May. A portion of the proceeds goes back to Wildwood PTA! You can click this link and access your child's artwork using the Access Code that was sent home. Do you have a neighbor or friend within our Wildwood boundary who has an incoming TK or Kinder student? Please remind them to register NOW to secure their spot and aide us in our projected staffing. We appreciate your help in getting the word out.

Thank you to the families who have completed this form for your children. We currently have responses for 201 of our 333 TK-4th grade students. If you HAVE completed the form, stop reading and scroll to the next announcement.👍 If you have HAVE NOT completed the form, please do so now.

In order to properly plan classes and staffing for the 2024-2025 school year, we are requesting that ALL families who currently have a child attending Wildwood Elementary please complete THIS FORM. If you have more than 1 child currently attending Wildwood, please complete a separate form for each child. This form should take less than 1 minute to complete.

Families of 5th grade students do NOT need to complete this form for your 5th grade student because we are already aware that they will be moving on.

Get ready for our next Wildwood Spirit Day on May 2—Anything But a Backpack Day! Students are encouraged to bring their school supplies in something fun and creative instead of a traditional backpack. Think outside the box—use a laundry basket, a shopping bag, a suitcase, or even a toy wagon! Just make sure it’s safe and easy to carry. We can’t wait to see your imaginative ideas!

California’s 2024-25 STIS policy allows families to request 1–15 days of independent study per school year for absences due to illness, family emergencies, or other short-term needs. Students will receive assignments to stay engaged with the curriculum while away.

To request STIS, contact the Wildwood office or visit our attendance page for more details. We’re committed to supporting student success through flexible learning options.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!!! What a fun couple of weeks we've had making ice cream in a can. Even though it was pretty cold on some of those days the kids, didn't seem to care! A HUGE thank you to all the families that donated - we are so thankful!!!

Not all fliers will appear as images in our Wildwood Weekly newsletter, and we don't want you to miss out on community events, classes, or opportunities that are of interest to you. Fliers are organized under three tabs:

From time to time, individuals or groups in the community will distribute information and advertisements to parents/guardians on the public sidewalks during school arrival or dismissal. This information is not affiliated or endorsed by Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD. Any approved communications (i.e. announcements, fliers) from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD will be provided directly from the school to you via email, or given to your students to take home. If you ever are unsure whether or not materials are from Wildwood Elementary and CVUSD, please do not hesitate to contact the front office.

Dear 5th Grade Parents,

Registration for the 6th Grade Math Challenge Exam is now available online. This exam is open to all current 5th-grade students who wish to test out of the 6th-grade math courses. Passing the exam will allow students to bypass the 6th-grade math curriculum and enroll in Math 7 Accelerated (Math 7A) as 6th graders.

Placement Exam Details:

• Exam Date: June 16, 2025, at Redwood Middle School
• Registration Deadline: May 16, 2025
• Passing Score: 83%+ required for Math 7A placement
