Dr. Sherp's Update
Dear Fox Families:
Welcome to 4th quarter everyone. This year seems to be flying by. I must say, after 19 years of being a high school principal, it feels very strange to know that I am serving in my last quarter as a principal. These years have without question been the most rewarding years of my life. But, we are not done yet! We still have a lot of time to continue to learn and grow together to conclude the 2024-2025 school year.
Some important and fun things we have coming up in the next six weeks include:
- Spring Fling and Spring Assembly with food trucks and carnival games-Friday, April 4th
- Parent Teacher Conferences-Monday, April 7th
- Trade Fair in the Commons-Thursday, April 10th
- Sophomore Ring Ceremony-Thursday, April 17th
- Renaissance Choice Awards all school assembly-Friday, April 18th
- EOC testing window-Tuesday, April 22nd-Friday, May 2nd
- Baccalaureate-Sunday, May 4th
- AP testing begins-Tuesday, May 6th
- Senior last day with parade and picnic-Tuesday, May 6th
- Senior Awards Ceremony-Wednesday, May 7th
- Evening of the Arts-Thursday, May 8th
- Graduation-Sunday, May 11th
- Finals week for underclassman-the week of May 19th
- Underclassman last day-Friday May 23rd
So as you can see, we have a very packed upcoming six weeks or so. Here is a look at some happenings that have occurred over the past few weeks at Fox High:
Stucco Tappers-One of the most beloved activities our Student Council members take part in every year is their "Yappers" days when they join the Early Childhood students in learning activities. Below are some highlights from their most recent visit.
Senior Trip to City Museum-As part of the graduating class cohort bonding activities for senior year we take them on a group selected field trip. This year our seniors chose to go to the City Museum. I believe all parties had a great time. See below for some shots from the day.
Marine Band-We were lucky enough to host the nationally touring official Marines Rock Band. They came to Rickman and played for many of our music students (and some other classes that chose to attend) and they were awesome. Below are some highlights from their show.
Renaissance Staff and Student of the Month-This year we restarted our Renaissance program. It is a national program that aims to recognize academic and other forms of excellence within schools. One of the components of the program is having all members of our high school (students and staff) vote on a student and staff member of the month. Congratulations to 12th grader Craig VIlchis and Art Teacher, Ms. Sulkowski for being named the March Student and Staff people of the month. Please see below for the presentations to the two recipients.
DECA State-Once again, this year, Fox sent another nearly 40 students to compete at the state level in the National DECA (Marketing) Competitions for the right to go compete at the national level. There are over 30 fields that students can compete in. Fox High had an amazing showing at this year's competition. Congratulations to the following students for making it on the stage in Kansas City for the awards ceremony:
- Natalie Meyer-Finalist in Independent Business Plan
- Karson Emmons-Finalist in Integrated Marketing Communications Event
- Aletheia Lee-Finalist in Business Service Operations
