Summer Reading (Required)
7th and 8th graders are Community Read Leaders
One required read is our Community Read, 24 Hours in Nowhere. This is a great adventure story that involves friendship, perseverance, overcoming challenges and hardships. It is a quick page turner, that you will love
Please take the time this summer to do a first close read of this book. This is only for ⅞ th graders. Please mark up the book with your thoughts and ideas. When we come back in the fall, we will be reading this book as a whole school community. You will need your marked up book in the fall. The ⅞ th graders will be taking on leadership roles in our new “ House” communities. This is an exciting opportunity where we need many skill sets.
Please develop one activity that would be fun for the “House” groups to use for group discussion, comprehension, theme extensions, ect… The activity will be for 3rd -8th grade. This will be turned into Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Amatulli.
A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.
–Neil Gaiman
We want you to develop a love of reading, and throughout your time on the 7/8 team, we encourage you to Read! Read! Read! Summer is a great time to snuggle up with a good book, and we encourage you to read as many books as you can.
