First Day of School is Aug 12, 2024!
Our 2024-25 Theme
Carter Meet the Teacher is Thursday, August 8, 5:00-7:00
August 2, 2024
Dear Carter Coyote Families,
Hope you have had a wonderful summer relaxing with family and friends!
We are so excited that school is right around the corner. Our teachers have been working hard to make our Coyotes first day a great experience.
At Meet the Teacher on August 8, you will be able to meet your child's teacher, bring up school supplies, and tell your teacher your child's first week (and beyond) transportation.
This will be a come and go event. Please see above flyer for the time schedule. We will be handing out wristbands for your PK-1st student to wear the first several days that will identify their homeroom teacher. You will also be able to pick up car line tags.
This is the only date we have available for children to meet their teachers, as the rest of the week is packed full with teacher trainings and district events.
New Students: Please make sure to visit the library to have your student's photo taken for their new My Stop/ID badge. Students are required to wear this every day!
Returning Students: You will receive an updated Student ID badge, but DO NOT need to have a new picture taken.
Two Very Important Tasks to Complete As Soon As Possible
Beginning of the Year Forms:
If your child's BOY forms are not completed by the end of the day on Tuesday, August 6, a phone call home by your child's homeroom teacher will not occur on Wednesday, August 7! A Skyward report will be run Wednesday morning giving teachers clearance of who can and can not receive a phone call!
For the 2024-25 school year, all LCISD campuses will be using Skyward’s Beginning of Year form functionality to reduce the number of paper forms students are required to have signed and returned at the start of the school year. This functionality will be a seamless integration with the Skyward Family Access Center and will save you, the parent, time in filling out these forms as well as the campus staff in entering that data in our student information system.
Instructions for Completing Online Forms:
Completing the Beginning of Year online forms through Skyward Family Access is very easy and will take just a few minutes. Below are your steps for completing these forms:
- Click on the Family Access login button to the right.
- Login with your LCISD Family Access credentials.
- Click on the Beginning of Year Forms link in the Family Access main menu.
- Complete each step, making changes as necessary, and clicking the “Complete Step X” button at the bottom of each form.
- Once all forms are complete, click the “Submit Beginning of Year Forms” button on the last page. (THIS STEPS GETS OVER LOOKED SOME TIMES!)
If we can be of any assistance, please let us know by calling 832-223-5500.
Student Bus Routes and Information
Step 1: Parents, you must register for bus service in your Skyward Family Access by Sunday, August 4. CLICK HERE to find the instructions for registering in Skyward.
Step 2: Registering for the parent portal is a vital safety measure that should be completed by ALL parents. Bus information will only be available in Versatrans My Stop App. The Parent and Campus My Stop Portal will show updated bus route information for your student. In addition, parents will know where their child's school bus is and what time t will be at their stop. You can also check the times our child scanned on/off the school bus for the day, and bus delays.
Follow the steps below to download the My Stop App:
Arrival and Dismissal Areas for Car Line, Bus, and NEW CHANGE for Walker/Bikers
Students were used to walking or riding their bikes up to the side door last year. This year, walkers and bikers will go to the front of the school when they arrive for additional safety measures! Please see the map below. Walkers and Bikers will follow the green arrows in the morning.
First Day Procedures: PLEASE READ!
Students may report directly to their classroom and parents may walk students to their class on the first day. Please make sure that your child's teacher knows how they are getting home and any other important information.
Starting the 2nd day of school, any parent needing to go past the front office will need to sign in to our Raptor System and receive a badge. Be prepared to wait in long lines. Staff inside the building are ready and available to receive and assist your child at curbside drop-off. No need to worry!
Dismissal is at 2:40, the end of school day.
Lunch Visitors: We welcome visitors for lunch! However, we ask that parents do not visit for lunch until we have had time to learn new procedures and systems. Lunch visitors will be welcomed back to the cafeteria starting August 26. Our cafeteria has tables where you and your child can sit and enjoy lunch together. Remember, that you may bring food in for your child, but it cannot be shared or brought for/with other students.
Please pack you patience! Typically the first week or two dismissal takes longer as we and our students are learning new routines and procedures. It will get better and faster each day, trust and believe!
Front Office: Will be closed Friday, August 9 for Registration. The last day to register is Thursday, August 8.
