Message From The Principal
Westbrook Families,
Just a friendly reminder that we do NOT have school tomorrow. We look forward to having students back in the building on Monday next week!
Thank you to everyone that attended our Family Math Night last week. It was certainly our most attended family event of the year and we couldn't be more thankful to everyone that helped out to make it possible. It was great to see current students, past students and future students enjoying math with their families across the building!
This week we also started our bike unit in P.E. for our kindergarten through second grade students. This unit is a great opportunities for students to work on helmet safety, walking and riding a bike. A big thanks to all of our volunteers that have helped with this unit. If you are able to help out next week, please use the link below to sign up!
Next week our parking lot in the rear of the building, and the drive around the building, will be closed from 9:00AM-11:00AM and again from 1:30-3:00 on Tuesday(4/22) and Thursday(4/24). Please make sure that you are on time for arrival and to not arrive on our site prior to 3:00 for pick up. Anyone arriving during these times will need to come through the front office.
We are also looking forward to our Kindergarten Spring Musical here at Westbrook on Friday May 2. More information including the following schedule is below.
Friday, May 2, 9:30am: Savage, Krueger, Greiner
Friday, May 2, 1:30pm: Licato, Stanley, Barron
Have a great weekend!
Patrick
Class Placement Feedback
Later this spring, the Westbrook staff and I will engage in our work to create the groups of children that will comprise our 2025-26 homeroom classes. The class placement process is one that takes considerable time and collaboration among our school team, and will not be truly finalized until August.
In creating classes, we strive to take into account all that we have already learned regarding the social, emotional, academic and creative aspects of every child. Our goal is to form balanced, heterogeneous classes in which each child can succeed. If you have additional information that you feel is important for us to consider when placing your child in a class for next school year, please share it with me in writing (or email: phoeft@glenview34.org) no later than Monday, April 21st. If your child will not be returning to Westbrook for the 2025-2026 school year because your family is moving or he/she will be enrolling in a private school, please let the front office know as soon as possible via email to mzenzola@glenview34.org and dcrask@glenview34.org.
Your thoughts about your child’s peer relationships and previous school experiences are certainly valued. Consistent with past practice at Westbrook School, however, please know that we are unable to honor requests for specific teachers or specific friend requests. If you have any questions about the class placement process, please feel free to reach out!
To Kindergarten Parents/Guardians:
We are excited that your child’s performance is coming up soon!
Friday, May 2, 9:30am: Savage, Krueger, Greiner
Friday, May 2, 1:30pm: Licato, Stanley, Barron
The safety and security of all of our students and staff at Westbrook are our priority, and we ask for your help by following District 34 safety and security protocols that require each guest to have their photo ID processed through our security system before being admitted into Westbrook.
The front office STILL needs to print a name badge for EVERY visitor, regardless if the front office has scanned your driver’s license in our Raptor security system in the past
**To expedite the check-in process on the day of the performance, PLEASE let the Westbrook front office know that you will attend the performance. PLEASE RSVP as soon as possible. Deadline is by Wednesday April 30, 2025
Anyone planning to attend the performance can call the front office or stop by the school office. The Westbrook Front Office can be reached at (847) 998-5055.
Have your driver’s license ready when you call.
As a reminder, each student is allowed to have up to 2 attendees.
Thank you to those who have already contacted the main office. We will have your ID badge ready for you the day/time of the performance.

Bike Unit in Physical Education & Volunteers Are Still Needed
Westbrook School is preparing to host a bicycle unit starting Tuesday April 15th! There will be information coming home through your classroom teacher newsletters about this amazing unit (made possible through a GEF grant) and volunteer opportunities!
Students should bring their helmets into school starting Tuesday, April 15th. There will be a limited amount of helmets available to borrow. We look forward to building upon their balance skills, starting and stopping the bike and riding independently. Be looking for a paper copy coming home with your student! If you would like to volunteer during our outdoor biking days please feel free to sign up here BIKE VOLUNTEER SIGN UP.
