As we get closer to winter, the sun is going down earlier and cold weather is setting in which can make this time of year really hard on our overall well-being. It is not uncommon for us to have less energy, motivation, and ability to manage our time well during winter months. There are things that we can all do though to help get us through this time of year feeling more hopeful and motivated.
Some ideas of things that may help:
- Get sunshine and fresh air
- Get good sleep
- Exercise
- Eat nutritious foods
- Drink plenty of water
- Engage in relaxation activities like mindfulness, meditation, or coloring
- Start a gratitude journal
- Enjoy uplifting shows, books, or podcasts
- Spend time with positive, uplifting people
Remember that the counseling team is here also to support everyone. We are always happy to talk and/or teach more about gratitude journaling, relaxation activities, and other healthy coping strategies.
