PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Hello Franklin Families,
Happy Pride Month! I learned about the Trevor Project years ago when I was teaching in Arizona. It’s an amazing organization with one mission to end suicide by LGBTQ+ young people. They also provide many resources such as crisis services and programming in education and public awareness. At Franklin we believe in their vision that LGBTQ+ youth deserve a welcoming and loving world. We will work daily to make that a reality. Check out their website and learn more about their Pride in Action campaign!
Here we are! We have made it to the last week of school. We celebrated the class of 2024 on a beautiful Tuesday night. Congratulations again! Graduates, we wish you all the best! For the rest of the grades, we still have some work to do. I know you will be finishing end of year projects and taking finals. We also need you to clean out your lockers by Wednesday at 3:30pm. Return any books to the library and return your chromebooks to the Vice Principal’s office if you are not returning to Franklin the fall (assuming you are coming back, please fill out this form as soon as possible). Any clothing or backpacks that are left behind will be donated. Be sure to review the finals bell schedule for Wednesday - Friday on Trivory. Teachers will be available to meet with students during the extended tutorial times on those days.
Thank you and enjoy the sun and warm temps this weekend.

UPDATE: Franklin Film School Successes
Franklin Film School had an intense couple of weeks. They had two film screenings, premiered the Senior Video, and took home two of the three awards at the Best of PPS Film Festival!
Franklin Film School Screenings:
There was a full house at both the Narrative Capstone Screening and the Documentary Capstone Screening. It was so fun to see the students stand on the stage so proud of the work that they had done this semester. If you would like to see any of the films we premiered this semester, you can find all of them all here: franklinfilmschool.com.
Senior Video:
Iris Gray and Otis Mardon worked so hard on the senior video this year. They really wanted to capture the senior recognition assembly and prom so they took a huge risk in premiering their film as its own assembly at the end of the day on May 30th. The auditorium was full! It was so nice to hear and see the film as it was meant to be seen. If you were unable to attend, here is the link to the film. They did a great job.
3rd Annual Best of PPS Film Fest:
Franklin Film School had six of the twelve selections at this year's film fest at the Hollywood Theater, and took home TWO of the three awards. Seniors Sophia Beffert and Carlo Cicconetti won Best Narrative for their film Hunting A Legend, and Sean Yang and Ben Smyth won the award for Best Documentary for their film The Darkside of Fitness.
Congratulations to all Franklin Film School students and staff members for their outstanding efforts this year!
Portfolio Project
Portfolio Project is a FREE 14-week program for Black identifying students through the United Negro College Fund (UNCF) to help with the college and scholarship application process. This program is intended for students to complete a two-year cycle, first as a junior and again as a senior to revamp and enhance the work done their junior year.
As a junior who completes the program, students are eligible to attend a fully funded HBCU college tour to Atlanta, Georgia! As a senior who completes our program, students are eligible for our Portfolio Project Scholarship which is renewable each year.
Please see the flyer below for more information.
