Wayne-Westland Innovative Academy
Communication for February 3, 2025
Dear Students and Families,
As we move forward in Quarter 3, I want to take a moment to encourage each of you to give your absolute best effort in all that you do. Your hard work, dedication, and resilience are the keys to success, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
Student Assembly on Tuesday
This Tuesday, we will hold a student assembly to discuss our expectations for attendance, academics, and behavior. These expectations are in place to help all students stay on track and reach their fullest potential. Please be present and engaged during this important discussion.
NWEA Exams
By now, all students should have completed their Reading and Math NWEA Exams. These assessments help us understand your progress and identify areas for growth. If you have any questions about your results, please reach out to your teachers or counselors.
Hall Pass Policy & Punctuality
A reminder that students must have a pass to leave class and enter other spaces. This policy ensures a safe and structured learning environment for everyone. Additionally, being on time for class is essential for maximizing learning opportunities—let’s make punctuality a priority!
Celebrating Achievements
A huge congratulations to 53 of our students who passed 3 or 4 classes in Quarter 2! Your hard work is paying off, and we are proud of your commitment to success. We also want to celebrate 8 of our Honor Roll students who earned a 3.0 or higher on their 2nd Quarter report card—keep striving for excellence!
Let’s continue to push forward, support one another, and make this quarter a great one. Keep up the amazing work!
Educationally yours,
Dr. K. Rosser
Principal, WWIA

Attendance Policy Information
Attendance Policy
Regular attendance is crucial for your child's academic success. Please make every effort to ensure your child attends school on time every day and stays throughout the whole day. Consistent attendance throughout the school day allows your child to engage in learning and maximize their educational opportunities fully.
Illness: If your child is not feeling well and cannot attend school, please notify us immediately. Students who are ill should not attend school to prevent the spread of illness to others.
Excused Absences: We understand that there may be instances when your child needs to be absent due to illness, medical appointments, family emergencies, or other legitimate reasons. Please notify the school in advance whenever possible to classify the absence as excused.
Unexcused Absences: Unexcused absences negatively impact your child's education. Absences without valid reasons will be considered unexcused, and appropriate actions may be taken per district policy.
Timely reporting of absences helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures that your child's absence is properly documented. Absences must be reported within 24 hours.
There are two convenient methods for reporting your child's absence to facilitate efficient communication and accurate attendance records.
You can notify your child's school through the dedicated attendance line. Please leave a detailed message stating your child's name, grade, and reason for absence.
You can report absences directly through MiStar, our secure online portal for student information. MiStar provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to submit absences.
Thank you for your ongoing support in creating a positive and productive learning environment for all our students.
