Dear Parents,

On Thursday, April 6, high school students will have the opportunity to participate in our Lenten service project within the Vermilion Parish community during the school day. The locations at which the students will serve were suggested through our relationship with St. Mary Magdalen Church as places that our faith community has been called to do ministry in our parish.

On the morning of April 6, students will report directly to school for our annual Holy Thursday Way of the Cross Prayer Service. After the prayer service, students will be allowed to drive to their chosen/assigned organization to be ready to work by 9:00 am and they will work until 12:00 pm. Students who do not drive will be transported by the VC Eagle bus. Students may wear jeans or joggers with a VC shirt.

There will be an adult supervisor present at each location the entire time. Students must check-in with the VC adult supervisor on site upon arrival. In some cases, this may be a parent volunteer. Students must also sign out with the VC adult supervisor before leaving. This will be very important for attendance and documentation purposes.

Students who drive will be dismissed directly from their service location while students who are transported on the VC Eagle bus will be brought back to school and dismissed from campus at noon on this day.

If a student chooses not to participate, he or she must report to VC at regular school time and in uniform. There will be a check-in location. Failure to participate in the service project for the entire time allotted or to report to VC will result in an unexcused absence.
