Check out this edition of the District Spotlight to learn more about the incredible things our students, staff, and schools are doing every day - even over the summer break!
Schools Receive New Furniture From Seattle Law Firm Donation
Seattle-based law firm Keller Rohrback recently donated a generous amount, of office furniture, totaling more than $50,000, to secondary schools in the Marysville School District. A plethora of standing and stationary desks, solid wood cabinets and bookcases, adjustable monitors, touch screen televisions, a TV stand, fabric swivel and leather back desk chairs, conference tables and chairs currently fill the TAC and conference rooms at MPHS, soon to be dispersed. The furniture will be delivered to Marysville Middle School, Marysville Pilchuck, Tulalip Heritage, and Legacy High School, with some leftover to replace across the district as needed. All the furniture and supplies are in excellent condition - the law firm is transitioning to a new workspace and wished to purchase new furniture. The district is incredibly appreciative of this generous donation to our staff and schools during this time.
Pinewood, Sunnyside, and Cascade Receive State Recognition for Student Growth
Congratulations, students and staff of Pinewood Elementary (2021-22, 2022-23), Cascade Elementary (2021-22), and Sunnyside Elementary (2021-22), who were recognized by the State Board of Education and Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) for school-wide academic growth for one or more student groups!

The honorees for the 2021-22 and 2022-23 school years span 178 school districts across the state. Recognized schools will receive a banner to display in their buildings."
Quil Ceda Stadium Turf Replacement Commences
Turf update! Construction on the field at Quil Ceda Stadium is wrapping up, and the crew has started rolling up the old turf at Marysville Getchell.
The fields at MPHS and MGHS were last replaced in 2010. Each has a lifespan of 8-10 years. These fields were no longer safe to play on and had to be replaced for the district to safely and legally offer sports in the 2024-2025 school year. Stay tuned for more progress photos of the Marysville Getchell field.
Community Collaborates to Restore Greenhouse and Garden at Marysville Pilchuck
We are thrilled to share that a collaborative effort of teachers, community volunteers, and local non-profit Best Schools Marysville to restore the once-beloved greenhouse and garden area on the Marysville Pilchuck High School (MPHS) campus is well underway and making remarkable progress!
For many years, this area behind the Early Learning Center at MPHS has been overgrown and unusable for students and staff. The goal of the project is to have the greenhouse up and running and prepared for student use prior to the start of the 2024-25 school year.
MPHS biology teachers Claire Luvera and Kayla Carter, who have worked to organize the cleanup, hope to use the on-campus greenhouse as a resource for engaging and hands-on agriculture and horticulture lessons, with aspirations of reviving the student flower sales of years past.
Restoration is coming along (see photos below), and there is an upcoming opportunity for community involvement. A Community Cleanup Event to clear out the garbage and overgrowth is planned for July 12, 13, and 14 from 10 am - 3 pm. The event coordinators encourage interested community members to bring gloves and tools, if possible.

Marysville Getchell Becomes MSD's First Special Olympics Unified Champion School
According to the Special Olympics webpage, "[Unified Champion Schools] are school climates where students with disabilities feel welcome and are routinely included in, and feel a part of, all activities, opportunities and functions. This is accomplished by implementing inclusive sports, inclusive youth leadership opportunities, and whole school engagement. The program is designed to be woven into the fabric of the school, enhancing current efforts and providing rich opportunities that lead to meaningful change in creating a socially inclusive school that supports and engages all learners."
