Ricks' Relay
Hello Bobcats!
Happy Monday! I hope that everyone had an AMAZING weekend!!! Our Aggie graced us with his presence (away football game), and it was great to get to visit with him. Wowsers, did he have a lot of laundry! And, in true college student fashion, he requested all of his favorite meals and ate us out of house and home. We really miss him, but he is living his best life in College Station. 💕
Red Ribbon Week was so much fun! A huge shoutout to Ms. Corbin, the Student Council, and our Counselors for all of their hard work putting the engaging learning and activities together! From the "I choose to be drug free" chain link, to the bracelets, to the daily announcement messages, to the Bobcat Challenge videos, to the dress up days, the week was a big success!
Thank you to everyone who spoiled me during "National Principal's Month"! I truly appreciate all the love and recognition. The signed posters, gifts, and video are truly special!
We've got a lot going on this week! The football teams are finishing up their seasons... 3 out of 4 of the teams are still UNDEFEATED! The volleyball teams wrapped up their seasons over the weekend... shout out to the 7th Grade Girls A-Team for bringing home the District Championship this past weekend! Basketball tryouts begin. We are hosting a walk-out Pep Rally for our ABLE Students to send them off to their Special Olympics Bowling Meet on Thursday, so we are encouraging all of our Bobcats to wear their DMS Bobcat blue spirit wear to show their support. Open House/Meet the Teacher is Thursday evening from 6:00 - 7:30... it is a come and go event. The DMS Theatre Department's "How to Get Away With A Murder Mystery" has two showings on Saturday (check out the graphic below for all the details).
We are so proud of all of our Bobcats and all of their accomplishments. Lots of info to share... let's get to it! Make it a great week, and go Bobcats! 🐾💙
~Mrs. Ricks

Educator of the Week
DMS wants to honor our educators who go above and beyond to provide students with an exceptional learning experience. Using this Google Form, please nominate a staff member who models and encourages the Capturing Kids Hearts (CKH) tenets of empathy, self-direction, teamwork, courage, perseverance, and integrity. Please take a moment to recognize anything big or small they've done to make a positive difference at DMS.
Attention Veterans!!!
We will be hosting our annual Veteran's Day Celebration on November 11, 2024. The DMS Program is scheduled from 1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m. with a reception for all Veterans to follow.
Clayton Mills, DMS Technology Teacher, is creating a video and would love for a few of our Bobcats' veteran parents/grandparents to participate. In the video interview, we will be asking questions about the veteran's time in military service and how it has impacted their lives. The kids love seeing their loved ones on video!
Here is a list of questions that will be asked in this interview:
1. What branch of service were you a part of, what was your rank, and how long did you serve?
2. Where were you stationed, and what was your MOS (Military Occupational Specialty)?
3. What was your favorite memory from your time in service?
4. Why should our younger generations consider military service, and is there anything else you'd like to communicate to them?
If you are interested, please submit this Google Form, and Mr. Mills will be in contact with you very soon!
Attention 7th Grade Parents!!!
The Monique Burr Foundation presents Teen Safety Matters, a comprehensive, evidence-informed prevention education program for middle school students in 7th grade on November 13, 2024. The program addresses emotional, physical, and digital safety, and teaches students how to prevent, recognize, and respond appropriately to the four types of child abuse, exploitation, trafficking, assault, relationship abuse, bullying, cyberbullying, and digital dangers with age appropriate information. To opt your student in to the programming, click here. For additional information regarding the program, please click here.
Attendance
We realize that there have been bouts of COVID, strep throat, and a stomach bug going around. Please remind your kiddos to wash their hands frequently, drink plenty of water, and get plenty of rest in an effort to mitigate illnesses.
Just a few attendance reminders:
- Absence notes should be emailed to lisa.wood@midlothianisd.org within 24 hours of the absence.
- When you email the school, please include the student's first name, last name, and ID#. Student nicknames can cause confusion with attendance coding.
- If you feel that there is an error for a particular class period, please email the teacher directly first. For example, if your student was tardy and the teacher accidentally marked your student absent, please email the teacher so the teacher can submit an absence correction form.
- Please remember that we have approximately 1,000 students on campus, so it may take 1-2 business days for the update to show in Skyward. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
