Yesterday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a six-month spending bill that would cut $1 billion from the District of Columbia's local operating budget--affecting schools, public services and much more. This could immediately cut $192 million from DCPS. The bill now heads to the U.S. Senate.

Here are three (quick) things you can do to help protect our schools.

1. Today: Call one or more U.S. Senators who could cast deciding votes. Phone numbers and talking points are here.
2. Today: Write a letter to Capitol Hill staff (this makes it very easy).
3. Tomorrow: Attend tomorrow's "Recess at the Capitol" family action event. Learn more here.
