A message from the Interim Superintendent
Dear Northview Families,
Northview Public Schools is dedicated to fostering a culture of belonging among our students, families, and staff. Our commitment to this endeavor is grounded in our core beliefs, which serve as the cornerstone of our actions and decisions.
Northview adheres to seven fundamental beliefs, which you can read by clicking here. Of particular significance are Belief #2, affirming that "Every person is a valued member of the Northview community," and Belief #5, emphasizing that "Integrity, honesty, and ethical behavior guide the treatment of students and adults in Northview." Our mission to create a sense of belonging hinges on translating these beliefs into action, a principle we describe as "walking our talk."
A vital aspect of manifesting our beliefs is ensuring transparency and integrity in our processes. A recent example illustrates this commitment. We received a request to remove eight books available to Northview students in grades 7-12. Importantly, these books are not obligatory but part of the student choice reading section.
We are aware that such challenges have been divisive issues across the nation. To address this, the Northview Board of Education has thoughtfully established a set of policies, guidelines, and procedures designed to process challenges to these books in a manner that respects and values every member of our community while upholding the highest standards of honesty and ethics.
If you are interested in learning more about the specific policies, guidelines, and procedures the board has in place for this scenario, please visit our website at www.nvps.net, or feel free to contact the Northview Admin Office, and we will send you a copy of these documents.
At Northview Public Schools, we do not seek to change anyone's views or beliefs. Instead, under the governance and leadership of the board, we address disagreements through a systematic and transparent process, ensuring that every perspective is considered and respected.
We will provide an update on this situation in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to Northview Public Schools.
Dr. Christina Hinds
Interim Superintendent

Adopt-A-Highway
Twice a year the Northview Board of Education collects trash along Plainfield Avenue from 5 Mile to I-96. It is one of the ways the board seeks to improve the community in which we live, work and go to school. The fall collection date is Sunday, September 24 from 1-3 pm. Volunteers will meet at Frontline Community Church at 1 pm to divide into teams. Many hands make light work and the collection usually takes less than two hours.
The board is seeking families and students to volunteer. If you or your group would like to participate, please contact Michelle Walsh at mdwalsh@nvps.net or 616-363-6861.
