Lake Bluff Elementary School Family Newsletter
Hello Lake Bluff Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed a few days indoors with our bitterly cold weather. Now that things are warming up, we hope to go back outdoors. Please plan ahead and send proper outdoor clothing with your student(s). We will go outside for recess daily as long as it isn't raining and the temperature is above 0 degrees. If you have any extra water proof mittens/gloves you would be willing to donate to the health office for when students forget, it would be greatly appreciated.
Please be reminded there is no school tomorrow, January 24. Have a wonderful long weekend.
Kind Regards,
Johanna French, Interim Principal

Meet our Staff
Every week we will try to showcase some important people that you may not know who contribute to the success of Lake Bluff.
Caz Carlson
Mr. Carlson is the man who fixes our broken computers and helps with our technology needs. He supports the entire District but we see him a lot at Lake Bluff. His official title is Instructional Technology Support Specialist. The most recent member of our IT team, he joined in November 2024. He said he became interested in computers when he was young through gaming and disassembling and reassembling old computers. He has been an amazing addition to the team and we are thrilled to have him.
Mr. Carlson's Fun Fact: Mr. Carlson played baseball at Miller Park Stadium- not once, but TWICE. How cool is that?!

Returning on Saturday, February 1st is the bargain hunter’s paradise known as “Boutique Blowout.” Many of Milwaukee's chicest boutiques will be there to sell clothing and accessories at deeply discounted prices. This year’s event will again be held at the Atwater Cafeteria from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The $5 admission fee is donated to the Shorewood Recreation Department’s “Donation for Recreation” program, which provides financial support for anyone unable to afford the department’s activity fees.
Join us for Let’s Talk About: Human Growth and Development
Join our Integrated Health/Phy. Ed. staff to learn about our District's health and human growth and development programming. In addition to the teaching staff, hear from our District Nurse and Director of Teaching and Learning to learn about how the program aligns to national and state standards. There will be an opportunity for community members to ask questions and provide feedback to the team about how best to meet student needs in these areas.
Shorewood Softball
Registration for the 2025 SLL Softball season is officially OPEN! To register, go to ShorewoodLittleLeague.com and click on the Registration tab to get started.
Our program is open to girls who are currently in grades 3 through 8. Families who register more than one player (including in SLL baseball) receive a discount.
Practices will begin at the start of May, with games running through June and July. We encourage beginners as well as athletes who are active in other sports to participate in this summer program. We are planning on a fun and competitive season where girls get to play with their friends while making new ones. Games and practices will mostly take place in Shorewood.
If you have any questions about registration or the program, please let us know.
SPRING CLINICS
Shorewood Little League and the Grey Falcats co-op, the high school program that includes Shorewood High School, Brown Deer High School and the University School of Milwaukee, will once again host spring clinics for youth players at Shorewood High School this spring. Clinics will be led by Grey Falcats varsity coach Chris Miller. The clinics are a great way to hone your skills and get ready for the coming season.
There are two sets of clinics.
1. Softball Camp, on four consecutive Sundays from Feb. 23 through March 16, focused on hitting, fielding and conditioning.
2. Pitching Clinic, on April 6, 13, 27 and May 4.
To register, go to ShorewoodRecreation.org, click on the "Youth Sports" tab, and then "Softball."
