Parents/Guardians, this week is fall conferences. This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love seeing parents and children come in together to talk to their teachers about what their child is learning and how school is going for them. It's important for parents to see the space where your child learns every day. Children do better when they know that their parents and teachers are working together to help them learn.
We have new report cards this year and teachers will go over that with you. Through the MN Read Act, another big change for progress reports this year is to share with parents when students are not reading at grade level in English. Your child's teacher will go over the information with you. We welcome you to ask any questions and to share any concerns you may have with your child's teacher. We will also have our support team available (counselors, social workers, and intervention specialist) if you have questions about social emotional learning or social skills building. We will also have our Hmong Dual Immersion coach, Bao Xiong, to help answer questions about our program as well. And as always, I will be near the front hallway so please stop by to say hello.
Parents, please make sure your children are dressed appropriately for the weather. All students go outside for recess every day for 20 minutes, regardless of the weather. The only times we have indoor recess is when it's raining very hard or when it's zero degrees or below Fahrenheit. Please LABEL your child's coat, snowpants, jackets, boots, hats, mittens with their first and last names! Many clothing pieces are left on the playground and it helps us get it back to the student.
