Welcome back to a new school year! We hope that community education has given you a positive experience and allowed you to become an active stakeholder in your school community. Just because a class, event, or activity has already taken place, we always appreciate your feedback and recommendations so we can improve. “It's not where we are, it’s where we want to go from here!” That is Community Education!

Applications for Educational Benefits were mailed out the week of August 15. Please check your mailbox and look for this form, along with other back-to-school information. The forms were in a folded format just like the corresponding image. If you did not receive them, please contact us and we will mail a new one out.

Monday - Thursday: This course is designed for those who have never had an archery experience before but would like to learn the basics. The course will focus on beginning National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) skills utilizing the protocol used by our school’s archery team, and it is a great head-start for those wishing to participate with the team in the coming season. The goals will be to learn safety, develop archery skills, and have fun. All equipment will be provided, and only NASP equipment will be allowed. Mondays & Fridays- 4:30 - 6:00 pm. September 9, 13, 16 (youth night), 20, 23, 27, 30 (mini meet). This program is for students in grades 3rd through 6th who want to learn the basics of tennis and have fun! This course will be led by adult coaches and members of the girl's varsity team. Participants will be introduced to the fundamental skills of tennis through a variety of drills, contests, and games. Participants are encouraged to bring a youth-sized racket if they have one. We will have "Youth Night" at the varsity match on Sept. 16. The varsity match begins at 4:00 and participants should be there by 3:30 for the evening event. We excited to announce that our high school FACS classroom and lab are nearing completion. These new spaces will be state of the art and much more conducive for all abilities of hands on learning. Please check back in October as we look to offer classes after that.

**This is a self paced online course which can be started and completed as it fits into your schedule! Community Education offers this Drivers Training 30 hour online course by Veteran Crash Investigator and Driver Safety Expert, Mike Pehl and his DriveSafeRideSafe team.

Friday, October 18- Babysitting 101: This 7.5-hour course for 10-15-year-olds follows the American Academy of Pediatrics –Babysitter Lessons And Safety Training (BLAST). Students learn current practices for safety and injury prevention, first aid basics, feeding and caring for infants, how to handle behavior problems, and how to manage their babysitting business. Students receive a reference book, game handouts, a babysitting bag, and a first aid kit. Please check your email for confirmation and further course information. 8:30 am - 4:00 pm. If you are age 60 or older, and a resident of the Sauk Centre Public School District, you qualify for a super senior passport. This pass will get you into regular-season athletic games.

October 10 - 6:00 - 10:00 pm. This course covers CPR for all ages, infant, child, adult, and automatic defibrillators. The American Heart Association offers this course for the first time, and for people who need refresher credit. Heartsaver is open to anyone; whereas Healthcare is for healthcare professionals. *If you need CPR training for healthcare professionals, you will need to contact the instructors directly @ kathy.struffert@ci.sauk-centre.mn.us

Please let the Community Education Office know by noon on the day of the activity/class if you cannot be present because of COVID-related symptoms. We need to let the instructors know and your registration fee will be refunded. October 14 - 6:00 - 9:00 pm. The First Aid course consists of learning the signs and symptoms of seizures, strokes, and symptoms of diabetics. You will learn how to manage broken bones, poisons, allergic reactions, bleeding, and heat and cold-related emergencies.

This is your chance to receive a 10%, three year car insurance discount by taking this state-approved, 4-hour defensive driving course. There's no driving and no test. You will receive a certificate of completion to provide to your insurance company. The class will take place in the SH Media Center. 5:00 - 9:00 pm.
