GMS WEEKLY NEWSLETTER JANUARY 17, 2025
Good Afternoon Wolf Pack Families!
My aplogies. This Newsletter was meant to be sent on Friday.
Today is the last day of Semester 1. Our students have been working hard this week turning in assignments, taking exams (BA's) and finishing up projects. We are proud of their efforts. Grades for the second marking period will be posted on January 27 by 5pm for families to access. I'll send more information next week as well. Students may want to review their schedule for Semester 2 prior to coming to school on Tuesday.
Our school was full of Lion's Spirit today. Many of our staff and students wore their Lion's gear in anticipation of the game on Saturday. We are hoping we get to do it again next Friday!
I hope to see many of our families at the MLK Day Celebration at WL Northern on Monday evening. It is a great event and Geisler will be displaying a video of the Unity Project that we worked on at school over the past 2 weeks. Special thanks to Ms. Garvin for her leadership with this project! Congratulations to Arya Godase and Saket Vohra who were selected as winners for the MLK Day "Express Yourself" contest.
Wishing you all a fantastic long weekend,
Stuart Riley
Principal, Geisler Middle School

District to host Fentanyl Awareness Presentations

📅 Date: Monday, January 27
🕔 Time: 5:45–6:45 p.m.

STUDENT SAFETY-PICK UP/DROP OFF
Wolf Pack Families, we have had a couple of close calls in the last few weeks in our Pick up/Drop off lanes. Please consider the safety of our entire Wolf Pack Community when you are dropping off or picking up your students. SLOW SPEEDS and following the procedures is the best way to keep everyone safe. Say long good byes while you are driving to school. When dropping off, make sure your student is prepared to exit the car quickly. Families who are prepared for this will help ensure more efficient traffic flow.
MATH/ELA iREADY DIAGNOSTIC 2
iReady is an assessment tool that is given to all students grades 6-8 in math and English language arts. The results from the assessment give teachers information on how to tailor their instruction to meet the needs of their class/students. It also gives individual feedback to each student/family on if they are at, behind or above grade level. Lessons can then be completed in iReady that are tailored specifically for each student. If your child is not at grade level at this time, it's ok! In the next few weeks, we will be sending home strategies to help them get caught up. We'll need your support to help us do that.
By Friday, January 10, your child's math and ELA teachers will be giving each student their individual diagnostic results report. If your child did not finish due to absence, it may be a few more days before you receive the information.
Students will be reviewing their own individual data and setting some goals with their teachers.
Please ask your child for their iReady diagnostic results in Math and ELA!
Please review the 2 informational letters below to learn more about iReady and how you can help your student become more proficient in math and ELA.

Free Before and After School Tutoring/Homework Help
We are so excited that we will begin FREE before and after school tutoring for Math and ELA starting on Monday, November 11. If your student struggles in either/both of these subjects or iReady, this is a great opportunity for them to get additional support. Consider asking your student's math/ELA teacher if tutoring might be good for them when you meet at conferences on November 14. You may register for tutoring at anytime from now through the end of the November. Our tutoring sessions are led by GMS teachers!
Students MUST be registered in order to attend. They must also be dropped off and picked up on time in order to continue. See the QR code below to register or use this link: https://forms.gle/NL4iZKeouXhfht9F7
