Panther Press of Wild Rose
October 11, 2024
A note from Mrs. Solomon
It was a successful week of parent/teacher and student conferences. We are so proud of the number of Wild Rose Panthers that led their conferences with their teachers and parents/guardians, shared their goals and what they are doing to accomplish those goals.
Thank you to Mrs. Lombardi for decorating our staff lounge and organizing the soup and salad lunch for our staff. For all those that donated for the lunch it is much appreciated particularly on such a long day, to not have to plan for one more thing. Thank you so very much from the Wild Rose Staff.
Thank you to all of our students and families that visited the book fair. Our Wild Rose students will definitely benefit from their new personal books and the additions that will be added to the library. Mrs. Flanigan has also added some new books to the office due to the generosity of your donations to staff to shop at the book fair to add to our instructional spaces! Thank you to all of the volunteers for set up, assistance purchasing, ordering, helping throughout the week and clean-up. Also thank you to our Alumni Girl Scout Wild Rose Panthers that volunteered their time on Thursday to help at the book fair and the library, what a treat for us all!
Thank you to the members of our PTO that have worked to clean up the outside areas of the building. Weeding, adding planters, holiday décor and helping to beautify our building grounds.
Our Kindness garden continues with improvements from school and community partnerships. We have our bench donated from last year's 2024 5th grade class that shares the Wild Rose Way.
For those new to Wild Rose - Last year we partnered with the local foundation Kendall's Kindness to build the garden space. Kendall's Kindness also devoted some proceeds to our town shirts last year, as our main focus was spreading kindness. This last week in downtown St. Charles the mural, "Blue Eyes and Butterflies" was unveiled along with St. Charles Arts Council and St. Charles Chambers. We will continue to have our student council work with Kendall's Kindness to carry out the mission. We are very proud to work with such a positive and fundamentally important foundation that celebrates the spreading of kindness and the importance of mental health.
We also are beginning our partnership with Global Harvest Foods. Global Harvest Foods is owned by one of our families Mr. Jarod Atkinson. Global Harvest Foods has donated a number of bird feeders and a bird bath to the Kindness garden. They have also donated 10 pairs of binoculars and a subscription to Birds & Blooms and cleaning supplies for the feeders. We will be working with Mrs. Adrianne (Drin) Chissus to help educate and inform our students with “into birding” talks. Adrianne is a bird influencer on social media and has an in depth knowledge of birds. Global Harvest Foods has committed to continually keeping our feeders supplied with food, and we will keep them clean for usage. We are beyond excited to grow our usage of this outdoor educational space. We are grateful to the generosity of Global Harvest Foods.
A future addition of a little lending library is on it's way, are overjoyed to expand this learning space.
We hope you have a fun filled weekend!
