From The Principal's Desk...
Goose Bay Families,
It was so nice to see some of your faces during our Parent/Teacher Conferences in February and at our Dr. Seuss family event on March 4th! The dedicated staff at Goose Bay always look forward to partnering with you as we help your little wolves learn and grow! A special shoutout to our amazing PTO for their support during Parent-Teacher Conferences, thank you for feeding our staff delicious food!
Looking ahead to our final quarter of the year I wanted to bring up the importance of attendance and your student's education. We all know a huge part of your child’s success is consistency, thank you for putting in the effort to ensure your child(ren) are consistently showing up to school to give them the best education and experience we can.
If there is anything we at Goose Bay can do to help your little wolf attend school regularly and on time, please don't hesitate to reach out.
We hope you have a happy and fun-filled Spring Break and we will see you back to school on March 17th for the final quarter of the 2024-2025 school year!
In partnership and support,
Ayla Wade – PROUD Principal

PE News...
How Do Those PE Shoes Fit?
As we head into spring break, it's a great time to check whether your child's PE shoes still fit their growing feet! 🙂
If those shoes are getting tight (your kids have grown a LOT since August!), now is a good time to upgrade!
(...and, yes, I happily accept donations of outgrown PE shoes!)
Have a wonderful break! Keep playing!

From The Nurse...
Hello Goose Bay Families,
I think we are all enjoying our warmer-than-usual winter we have been having. With spring like weather comes breakup mud and a wet playground!! It is very helpful to send your children with extra clothes in their backpack incase of any slips in the mud outside at mileage track!
Lice Information
It is important to regularly check your student for head lice while they are in school. If you find evidence of head lice, immediate treatment should be given. No special equipment is needed, but good lighting is essential.
To examine your child(ren), part the hair in small sections. Parasites and nits can be found anywhere on the head but are more commonly found at the nape of the neck and behind the ears. It can resemble dandruff, but lice are not easily removed from the hair shaft as dandruff. It may be harder to see nits on darker hair. If you find anything suspicious, contact your school nurse or your health care provider for assistance in examining your child(ren) and for recommendations about treatment.
Lice are “equal opportunity” parasites. They infest all socioeconomic groups, races, genders, and ages, but are more commonly found in children due to their close contact with each other. While head lice are not considered an infectious disease, they are contagious. Head lice are wingless insects and cannot jump or fly. They move by crawling and are spread primarily through direct head-to-head contact such as during close play at home or school, slumber parties, sports activities, or camp. It is also possible, though not common, to spread head lice through the sharing of personal items such as hats, scarves, helmets, brushes, combs, towels, or pillows.
It is important for you to know that lice are not a sign of poor hygiene and they do not spread disease. If someone in your child’s class at school develops head lice, there is no reason to panic and automatically assume that your child will “catch” head lice. Head lice do not jump from person to person. If a student is being treated for lice, they will see the school nurse for a head check when returning to school.
