LMS Family Update
January 12, 2025
Greetings Lockerman Families,
Happy New Year and welcome back from our snow-extended break! We will be halfway through the school year in just a couple of weeks as quarter two draws to a close. Please encourage your children to check in with teachers about any missing assignments and finish this quarter strong.
After this extended break, teachers will be working hard to reinforce our school expectations and classroom routines. Encourage your child to show their Wildcat Pride by being prepared, respectful, independent, disciplined and empathetic. You can reinforce our expectations at home by discussing what those characteristics look like in action. As always, we thank you for your partnership and support.
Finally, over our break, we had filtered water bottle filling stations installed in several locations around the building. If your child brings a water bottle to school, please label it with their name or initials. See below for additional updates and important information. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns.

Social Emotional Well-Being
Did you know? Bullying and conflict are different. We can help your child with both. Learning how to navigate conflict is a normal part of a child's social development. Teach and reinforce kindness in all situations. Report bullying, and empower bystanders and victims.

Please join Caroline Better Together for their Mid-Winter Community Check-In on Wednesday, Jan 22nd at St. Luke's Church in Denton!
This first Community Dinner and Conversation of 2025 will feature updates from our collective impact action teams already working on specific projects to improve life in Caroline County. We’ll have conversations about how you can get involved in creating the positive changes you want for your neighborhood, town and county. Together we will try to envision what we want living in Caroline to be like by 2030 and discuss what needs to happen to make this vision a reality.
As always, dinner starts at 5:30pm, followed by conversation until 7:30pm! RSVPs are appreciated but not required. To RSVP use this link: bit.ly/CBTDinner, or the QR code on the graphic.

From the Wellness Center
As we continue through these winter months, Choptank Health’s providers encourage protecting you and your children with immunizations against the flu, COVID-19, and RSV.
A reminder: Your student can receive a flu shot at their School-Based Health Center. Call to schedule today.
While flu and COVID-19 vaccines can be given starting at 6 months, the RSV vaccine is recommended for all infants younger than 8 months born during or entering their first RSV season and can be given up to 18 months for select high-risk children.
All children can access all recommended vaccines, including flu, COVID-19, and RSV, for free through their family’s insurance. Qualifying families can also receive assistance through the Vaccines for Children Program.
The CDC website now has the 2025 Immunization Schedules and is a great resource for parents to access the recommended vaccination schedules.
Families can go to their primary care providers for vaccines; alternatively, local health departments and oftentimes nearby pharmacies offer vaccines as well. Find contact information and more at
www.choptankhealth.org/protected.
It’s never too late to sign your student up for school-based health care, with more information at your student’s health center or at choptankhealth.org/schoolbased.

Communication Procedures
We value our home-school partnerships and want to be available to you, but during the student school day, administrator and counselor availability may be limited as we work with students and in classrooms. When calling during the school day, please let the secretary know if it is urgent. Otherwise, please know we may not be able to call you back until after dismissal. If you want to meet in person, please call to schedule an appointment. We do understand that sometimes urgent matters arise that can not be planned for, and we will always do our best to accommodate you.
Emailing School & District Staff
Spam filters are designed to identify emails that attackers or marketers use to send unwanted or dangerous content. They also throw out malware, malicious, and virus-infested emails and protect user security. Unfortunately, spam filtering is an inexact science that at times blocks legitimate messages.
Should you send an email to a staff member and not receive a reply within a reasonable amount of time (no more than 48 hours), please call the office.
