Principal Update
3/17/23
Dear LP Families,
Happy Friday!
To all who celebrate- Happy St. Patrick's Day! My dad has always strongly identified with his Irish heritage and subsequently passed that on to me and my siblings. We literally have to text him a picture of ourselves wearing green every year; just one of the many funny traditions we have in my family!
In this newsletter, you will find information about our school yearbook but also for our 5th grade families, there is a special opportunity for you to honor your child. You can purchase a spot in the year book to include a baby picture and sweet message as they move on up to the middle school. Keep scrolling for more info!
Also, our PTA is hosting another fun family event this month- Spring Fling! We'd love for you to join us and as always, looking for volunteers to make this event successful. You can find more info under the PTA section.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

A Note from Mr. Savine!
I am thrilled to welcome Herb Smith to Laurelton-Pardee on March 16th! Mr. Smith is a classical and jazz musician playing trumpet in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra for almost 30 years! In addition, he is an accomplished conductor, composer and teacher who has worked with students and bands of all ages!
Mr. Smith will spend some time working with the Laurelton-Pardee 5th grade band talking about his role in the music community in Rochester as well as listening to our band make music, performing for our students and answering any questions afterwards! We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with him and know we will learn so much from this experience!
Intramurals!
3rd graders will be every Tuesday.
4th graders will be every Wednesday.
5th graders will be every Thursday.
Time: 7:30am to 8:20am
There is no transportation available, parents will need to transport children. Students can only attend the day that matches their current grade level. Sneakers are mandatory for participation in this program.

One more time!
Capital Improvements Projects Are Underway!
For now though, one of our projects needs to start early if we are to finish on time. Our gymnasium will be receiving a new air handling unit. In order to do this work, we have to partition off half of the gym. To start, we will focus on the right side of the gym. This work will begin over February break and will take several weeks. Once the right side is complete, construction will move to the left side of the gym.
What does this mean for our students and you?!
Students will only use the left side of the gym for now. We are hoping for some great weather so we can get students outside as much as possible!
Pick-up and Drop-off changes: The location of the gym door students enter is the only thing that will need to change for this procedure. Instead of driving up to the current gym door on the right side of the gym, we will have you continue forward (towards Norton St.) until you get to the second gym door, located on the left side of the building. We will have signs and staff to help with this transition. This change will take effect Monday, February 27th. We appreciate your flexibility as we navigate this new construction.
