BRAG TAGS
Speaking of challenges, October’s Challenge was a success. Many students completed the challenge. Miss Amanda’s class were given their special Brag Tag when they came into the Media Center last week.
Allesandra did two Spookley Challenge papers!
The current challenge for grades K – 5th grade ended October 31st. K, 1st, and 2nd graders read books from our CARE collection, while 4th & 5th read books and earned as many points as they could! All of these classes earned Brag Tags or pins – or both!
Feasting on Books starts in November as part of Monroe County’s Culture of Literacy.
We had two busy weeks in the Media Center! Students dressed up during Spirit Week last week, and this week’s Student Council suggestions.
Wear RED, say no to drugs
The Media Center has so many students visiting each morning. They like to pick out a new book, complete Challenge activities, take Brag Tag tests and more😊
Do the Shuffle!
Similar to fun Monster Mash!
The third, fourth and fifth grade classes began their lesson this week by thinking about what they knew about Frankenstein and if they knew who Pablo Picasso was. They were surprised that the monster was not named Frankenstein but that a mad scientist, Dr. Victor Frankenstein, had created the monster. But the big surprise was that the book was written 200 years ago by an 18-year-old woman. Most knew that Picasso was an artist. They enjoyed a read aloud about his life. Then the students created Frankenstein’s monster in the style of Picasso. Lots of creative monsters filled the bulletin boards. The Kinders, first and second graders also created a cute Frankenstein’s monster. They learned to dance the Monster Mash and the Halloween Hustle.
