CLC Update
4/1/2024
- Our Partnership With Rocky Mountain National Park Continues! -
Dear CLC Families
We are so excited to announce that our Spring Break field trips were just the beginning of a continuous partnership we have with the National Park Service!
What's next?
The Rangers have invited our CLC students to participate in the Earth Day Event happening on April 20th at Beaver Meadows Visitor Center in Estes Park!
How it will work:
April 5th: The Rangers will come to AAK during after school CLC and present the ideas for this project to our CLC students, specifically grades 1st through 5th. The Rangers will introduce the Earth Day project and answer any questions the students may have.
April 8th -11th: The students will work on their presentations and build their project boards! This can happen during CLC time and if necessary, at home.
April 12th: The students will present their project to CLC staff with hopes of being one of the top 6 picks.
April 17th: At 4:00pm the top 6 will present their ideas to the Rangers who will help them perfect their Elevator Pitch for the Earth Day Event!
The Event: April 20, 2024
Should your student's project be selected to the top 6, they will be invited to the
Earth Day event in Estes Park!
Event Time: 10:00am-2:00pm
*This is a weekend opportunity for your child, AAK/CLC staff will not be required to attend.*
Your student will display their work and present their ideas to the public! The park rangers will give them their very own Junior Ranger hat and T-shirt they will get to wear and keep!
Parents/Guardians will be awarded gas cards in order to supply transportation for their students to attend the event!
Problem Prompts to Ponder:
What impact does visitors feeding wildlife have on the environment of Rocky Mountain National Park?
How does littering affect Rocky Mountain National Park?
What happens when visitors go off trail and create Social Paths, how does this impact Rocky Mountain National Park?
** You will not need to provide your student with any materials in regards to this project! Everything will be supplied and covered!**
What we need from you:
- Dedicated CLC attendance April 5th and the 8th-12th
- Your superpowers to help ignite the spark of excitement in your Dragons for this amazing and fun-filled experience
Stay Tuned:
We are setting dates for 2 more field trips to Rocky Mountain National Park.
-TO BE ANNOUNCED-
Look forward to those sign ups with May Break and Summer Break programming announcements!
Until Next Time,
Be sure to reach out with any questions or comments in the meantime!
