Dear BCSSSD Community,
A Note of Recognition
I would like to take this time to congratulate all of those recognized over the past two weeks across the District and selected among their colleagues as Teacher of the Year, Teacher Assistant of the Year and Educational Services Professional of the Year. Honorees received a visit from the administration, were presented flowers and were recognized among students and staff. One from each category will move forward in the process to be considered in that same category on the State level. On behalf of the Board, administration, staff and students, we salute all of our honorees for the 2016-2017 year. Please see my blog for details for each honoree.

Congratulations to our 2016-17 Teachers of the Year!
Dear BCSSSD Community,
Last week I recognized an ESU Teacher of the Year, which was the first time an ESU staff member was recognized for this honor. Today, I had the pleasure of recognizing the building level Teachers of the Year, Teacher Assistants of the Year, and Educational Services Professionals of the Year. I look forward to this time of the year when colleagues are able to recognize the contributions made by their peers. I am reminded by Claudia Wallace that “We never forget our best Teachers (TA, ESP)-those who imbued us with a deeper understanding or an enduring passion, the ones we come back to visit years after graduating, the educators who opened doors and altered the course of our lives.” Please join me in congratulating our award winners listed on the attachments. It is an honor and privilege to present them to you.
Dr. Christopher Nagy, Superintendent of Schools

Education Supervisor, Mrs. Adell Valasek takes her talents abroad
We know our teachers make a difference each day in our schools. Our Education Supervisor, Mrs. Adell Valasek, is making a difference abroad as well!
"Adell continues to be a welcomed and much appreciated consultant working with our team at the International School of Brussels. Her expertise in planning and implementing behavioral approaches has been critical in helping us support our students who require this approach. Her leadership, knowledge and sense of humor have really served us well and we hope that the relationship with ISB will continue on...even if it is just for a week or so a year. My colleagues ask me every year if "we can keep her" and I am sure that your community appreciates the support and guidance she offers you there. I know that it is a good experience for her culturally as well working with our diverse students.
