Anglo European School
w/c 9th September 2024 - Week 2
We were delighted to welcome a host of new faces to the Anglo Family this week. Our Year 7 students, the newest members of our school community, looked extremely smart and ready to embrace the challenges and opportunities that secondary school life will bring. We have been impressed with their eagerness to settle in and become part of the Anglo community.
We also welcomed a new cohort of external students into our International Sixth Form. These students, joining us from a variety of different schools, have quickly adapted to their new environment and we look forward to supporting them in the next stage of their academic journey.
A big thank you to our Year 7 tutors and Sixth Form prefects for supporting our Year 7 students to settle into their new surroundings and mentoring them through this important transition.
LAMDA
Massive congratulations to all of our Anglo LAMDA students who achieved incredible exam results this summer. Of the 26 who took an exam, 23 received the highest grade of Distinction with 100% of all students passing their examination with a high Merit or above. Brilliant!
Special mention goes to Grace for being awarded a whopping 97/100 marks, Eamonn 96 and Alex an equally impressive 95.
All students worked very hard over the course of the year, both those who took exams and those who decided to sit this round out. You are all marvellous and Danielle and Anglo are very proud of your efforts and your success.
We would like to thank Danielle Brown for all her support and hard work with this group. We welcome Anneli Page to the LAMDA team this year and wish them success with the year ahead.
If you are interested in attending LAMDA please email enquiries@aesessex.co.uk for more information.
Good Luck Noelle!
On Monday 9th September, Noelle Subrt Holly will be competing in the semi-final of the national Tycoons Enterprise competition. Her business, "Noe", sells organic perfumes made from essential oils. Her ethical business uses non-plastic packaging and refillable bottles. As part of her business, customers can book a wellbeing experience, whereby Noelle presents the benefits of her products, allowing customers to try before they buy! Her business became profitable this summer, after an initial breakeven period supported by the Peter Jones Foundation.
The Peter Jones Foundation sponsor student entrepreneurs in our school. Students take part in Enterprise Club (launching in January) and work with the Business department to start their businesses. We wish Noelle well for the competition!
Reminder - School is a Mobile Free Environment
In line with DFE guidance, our school rules will be very clear and very simple: mobile phones, and any other smart technology with the same functionality, must not be used, seen or heard whilst at school. This rule applies in totality to all students in Years 7 to 11. It applies to everywhere in the school, including toilets. We will confiscate any mobile phones which are used, seen or heard and these will be kept in our school safe until they are collected by a parent. We will not return confiscated mobile phones to students. Any refusal to hand in confiscated mobile phones will be viewed as defiance and sanctioned accordingly and will result in the student having to hand in their phone every day on arrival to school.
We recognise that our students travel long distances and that you will wish to safeguard them during this time. For this reason, we ask that parents fully support this policy, impress upon their children the importance of following our rules and that you have contingency plans in place should your child not adhere to these rules.
We ask that parents support us in asking our students to manage their self-discipline by not messaging or calling your child during the school day. If there is an emergency, you can contact the school office and we can arrange for you to speak with your child.
Our mobile phone-free space is clearly marked around the school perimeter in red and highly visible to all students and there will be no negotiation beyond this point. If a student needs to use their phone, they will need to seek an adult’s permission in advance from that point on.
At both the start and the end of the day, students will not be allowed to use their phones as soon as they are in the mobile phone-free zone. This includes the space under the canopy, on the playground or in Study Club as all of these spaces are within the mobile phone-free zone. If a student needs to check their phone in Study Club to see when their parent is collecting them, they can ask permission from the Study Club Manager. A school computer can be used for all other tasks.
Well done to all students for their recognition of the importance of this policy and adhering to the rules this week.
Year 7 PSG Students
PSG kits will be with the school ready for your first training session on Tuesday. They can be collected at the same time as the Year 7 photographs, ready for their first training session.
Good luck to the new Year 7 squad!
