Freshman Orientation Information

Dear Class of 2028 Students, Parents, and Guardians,

We are excited to welcome you all officially to York High School on Monday, August 26. This is a day dedicated just for our students that are new to the building and will give them an opportunity to go through their schedules, meet with their teachers, get to know their Pride Leaders, and feel a bit more comfortable with the transition to high school.

This is a full day of school (7:50-2:05) for our freshmen students. When students arrive (whether by bus, bike, car, or walking) they will go directly to the band room. We will have plenty of signage and people around, so students will not get lost. There will be music and overall excitement as we are thrilled to be welcoming this new class to YHS!

We will have informational meetings with administration, student services, our nurse, our SRO, library, and our front office staff, while also providing snacks and lunch (yay!). Throughout the day students will have fun with their senior facilitators and will get to tour the building while also reviewing their schedule.

Parents/Guardians... We also have an orientation for you! Please join us for a parent breakfast on August 26 at 7:30 (same day as your student's orientation). This will be a great opportunity for you to get answers to some of you high school-related questions, meet your student's Pride Leader, and their teachers.

We know that students may like to wear a new outfit on their first day of school. However, please plan to dress comfortably and wear something that could potentially get messy or wet (it's a fun-filled day!).

We will start our school year with Pride Days (8/27 and 8/28) to help students (and staff) get acclimated to the school, build relationships, and have fun. There will be specific activities planned during Pride and all class blocks. Students will go through their bell schedules and will meet their teachers. Our first academic day will be a White Day (blocks 1-4) on Thursday, August 29.
