We are excited to take our philosophy of PeaceBuilders outside of our school and into the community. World Kindness Day is coming on November 13th (the time and location will be confirmed soon!). We invite each one of you to come and dance with us to show that kindness can truly make a difference.

We are hosting a private event representing the state of Ohio. The dance will be open to Maple Dale staff, students, families,and friends. It will also be open to the Sycamore APE program and their High School support students.

The event will be aired worldwide as it is happening and a portion of our video will be in of the worldwide Montage Video that will be created in December.

The purpose of World Kindness Day is to look beyond ourselves- beyond the boundaries of our country, beyond our culture, our race, our religion, and realize that we are citizens of the world and that kindness is the common thread that unites us all.

All 2nd graders will take the Cognitive Ability Test (CogAT) the week of December 5, 2016, during the school day. For those students in the other grades, you may request that your child participate in this round of testing. This is in accordance with HB 282, which requires that school districts provide two opportunities for testing to identify students as gifted. PLEASE NOTE THAT SCORES ON KINDERGARTEN and FIRST GRADE TESTS WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION FOR PULL-OUT GIFTED SERVICES.

Parents of 2nd graders do NOT need to request testing since it is an automatic process. However, if your child is not in 2nd grade and you would like to have your child participate in the December administration of the CogAT, use the below link to request testing. The deadline to submit your request is November 30. In order to decrease disruption to your child's instruction, this testing opportunity will take place on Saturday, December 10, at Maple Dale Elementary from 9:00 until 12:00. Please note that it is the parents' responsibility to provide transportation to and from Maple Dale.

The nurse's office stock of clothes is running low and will gladly accept donations of lightly used items. We are especially in need of boys' and girls' pants in sizes 6-8, preferably with an elastic waist, as well as long sleeve shirts. Donations of lightly used or new kids' shoes, socks, underwear, and/or coats will also be much appreciated!

Thank you to the Montgomery Women's Club for sponsoring the Brass Band Trio from Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Our Kindergartners and 1st Graders LOVED the experience and sounds.

This year the yearbook theme is PeaceBuilders. There were 15 submissions by the 4th graders and on Election Day, the entire school voted. Congratulations, Libby Wolper, our 1st Place winner! Her design will be featured on the front cover and our second, third, fourth and fifth place winners will be displayed on the back. Congratulations, Daniel Kim (2nd), Sophie Daly (3rd), Garrett Brenkert (4th) and Simon Huth (5th)! Thank you to ALL the 4th graders who worked hard and had fun creating beautiful and inspiring PeaceBuilder covers. Your love for your school shows!

Maple Dale students came together today to celebrate and honor our veterans. Thank you to Sargeant First Class Severson, Dixon, and Dixon for sharing their stories and experiences with our Maple Dale students. Thank you to our families that donated for our troops, as well. The reason for observing this day is to show our gratitude to the brave men and women who sacrifice everything to make this world a safer place for the rest of us.

Maple Dale wishes all of our Girls on the Run runners the best of luck as they prepare to run a 5k on Saturday, November 19th! The girls and their running buddies rocked the practice 5k so we know they will make Maple Dale proud next weekend!

Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to creating a world where every girl knows and activates her limitless potential and is free to boldly pursue her dreams.

Meeting twice a week in small teams of 8-15 girls, we teach life skills through dynamic, conversation-based lessons and running games. The 20-lesson curriculum is taught by certified Girls on the Run coaches and includes three parts: understanding ourselves, valuing relationships and teamwork and understanding how we connect with and shape the world at large.

Running is used to inspire and motivate girls, encourage lifelong health and fitness, and build confidence through accomplishment. At each season's conclusion, the girls and their running buddies complete a 5k running event. Completing a 5k gives the girls a tangible sense of achievement as well as a framework for setting and achieving life goals. The result—making the seemingly impossible, possible and teaching girls that they can.

Due to Maple Dale being open in the evening for activities such as basketball, boy scouts, etc., we are working to keep the academic wings secure due to confidential information and valuable equipment. Our classrooms will be locked after school hours, as a result. Please help reinforce the importance of remembering to bring home the needed materials each day with your child. Thank you for your support in this matter.
