Thunder Post
November 15, 2024
Greetings from Dr. K.!
The National Day of Giving is here again! Last year’s event was so successful that the PTO is excited to bring it back as a fundraiser. Thanks to your generous contributions last year, we were able to make a number of safety upgrades to our playground and add some new fun features — thank you!
National Day of Giving is more than just a day to donate—it’s a powerful opportunity for parents, families, and friends to model faith, generosity, and gratitude to children. When parents participate in this special day alongside their kids, they demonstrate the importance of giving back to the school that nurtures and educates them. This participation goes beyond financial support; it’s a chance for children to see their families involved in a meaningful way, reinforcing the importance of their school and education. Children who witness their families supporting the school firsthand are more likely to take pride in their education and recognize the blessings of having a supportive, faith-centered environment.
We hope you will participate with your child during this special event from November 22 to December 4. An informational packet is going home with your child today.
Thank you for your participation. I will also be participating, and I wonder if anyone will meet my National Day of Giving challenge again this year?! You can find out at our special assembly on Friday, December 6.
Blessings,
Dr. K.
MOD PIZZA FUNDRAISER
Coming up this week!
This Thursday, November 21st CCS will be holding a fundraiser at MOD Pizza. All you have to do is mention the name Cornerstone Christian School at checkout and MOD will donate 25% of your order back to CCS. If ordering online, use the code MODGIVES25 for CCS to receive the donation.
Tell your family, friends, and neighbors to head on over to MOD Pizza in Brighton (across from Meijer) on Thursday, November 21st ... any time that day! Just don't forget to mention the name Cornerstone! 🥰
BRIGHTON HOLIDAY GLOW & CHRISTMAS MARKET
We still need volunteers for next Saturday, Nov 23rd!
Cornerstone Christian School will have a booth at the Holiday Glow and Christmas Market on Saturday, November 23rd from 1:00 to 7:00p. This is a wonderful opportunity for the CCS community to help promote our school, and we need your help at the booth. To help, click here to volunteer for one (or two 🙂) hours.
This will be a fun time to connect with local families, artisans, and businesses and spread the word about CCS. For questions, please contact lwood@ccsbrighton.org.
We invite all families to join us at the booth to spread the joy of the season as a school community.
NATIONAL DAY OF GIVING
Our National Day of Giving event starts next week! Instructions on how to set up each student's National Day of Giving Team will go home with your child TODAY. Be on the lookout!
Mark your calendars and get ready to give!
Our fundraising event will be held online and will run from Friday, November 22nd through December 4th, overlapping with the National Day of Giving. We are hoping to raise over $45,000 to put toward fulfilling teachers’ wish lists for their classrooms, enhancing curriculum, and increasing enrichment opportunities for the students.
Together, we can reach new heights for our students and school!

CHAPEL
We had a very special Veterans Day chapel this week! Our special speaker, Steve Williams, who served in the Army and worked at the Pentagon, is a Cornerstone Church member. He shared his story and encouraged the students.
Thank you, Mr. Williams! 💗

Veterans Day was celebrated in other ways, as well!
Our 3rd and 4th grade class was visited by Hunter and Dakota's mom, Major Rebecca Rodriguez, who is a Military Police with the 210th Military Police Battalion, in the Michigan Army National Guard. She spoke of the work she does, and stressed how blessed she feels to be able to stand up for every individual in the United States to be free. As a group they all said the Pledge of Allegiance together, then ended with a question-and-answer time. The students made cards and presented Ms. Rodriguez with a bouquet of flowers to thank her for her service!
Thank you, Major Rodriguez! 💗
CHAPEL COMPASSION PROJECT
On Monday, November 25th our 4th Grade class will be presenting chapel. Our character trait for the month of November is compassion. To kick off our chapel, our 4th graders are encouraging students to bring in a non-perishable food item. They will have a basket for donations as students enter the chapel on Nov 25th, and will be donating the items to a local food bank to show compassion!
Thank you for your willingness to help others in need!
OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD
Today was the last day to turn in shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child. We had a total of 61 boxes turned in at lunchtime today. Students and staff gathered around the boxes and spent some time praying over the boxes, for the children and families who will be receiving them, and for Cornerstone students. Prayers were led by our staff and even by a number of our students.
Again, thank you for your generosity!
If you still would like to turn a shoebox in, Cornerstone Church will be accepting them this Sunday morning, November 17th, during church services.
