Falcon Flyer for Families!
April 8 - April 12, 2024
Falcon Families,
I hope that you enjoyed Spring Break and had time to get some rest and unwind. It's important to take some time with friends and family, read a book, take a nap, and get some fresh air in order to keep life balanced. As we enter the last stage of this school year, it will be a fast and furious movement to testing season, award season, field trips and more. We look forward to all of our events and celebrations.
Before we left for break, we celebrated our Falcon Spotlight Award Winners for March! These Falcon's are seen as Risk-Takers; they have the independence of spirit to explore new roles, ideas, and strategies! 6th grade winners were Dallin Lewis, Jaylen Price, and Victor Cirilo Gonzalez. 7th grade spotlight student winners were Da'Shaun Pratt, Natalia Penagos Rojas, and Layla Shephard. 8th grade spotlight winners are Kevin Machado, Tatum Miller, and Armanni Hudson. The Related Arts/World Language faculty who were spotlighted included Mr. Pozo, Ms. Yanez, and Ms. Jordan. Staff spotlights were Mr. Adkins, Officer Dixon, and Ms. Strong. The 6th grade faculty spotlight went to Ms. Wildes, Ms. Hickman and Ms. Gourdin; 7th grade awards went to Dr. Barr, Ms. Welch, Ms. Lyle, and Mr. Kachuwaire; the 8th grade award went to Ms. Lacaya! Thank you to all of our Risk-Takers! The April spotlight will focus on "Thinkers."
I hope you enjoyed your break! See you Monday!

Talented Teachers!
Ms. Fletcher!
Ms Fletcher is the happiest of teachers every day! Her smile and enthusiasm are contagious!
She says, "I am a graduate of Winthrop University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education and Western Governors University with a Master's degree in Learning and Technology. This is my 24th year teaching at Sullivan and my 30th year teaching. I have taught science and math throughout my career. I enjoy teaching and helping my students to become the best that they can be. I teach all of my students with high expectations and believe that failure is not an option. When I am not teaching, I am spending time with my grandson and spoiling him rotten."
We love Ms. Fletcher!
Ms. Heyward!
Ms. Heyward is one of the quietest and calmest individuals at Sullivan Middle School. Her Media Center is always a quiet, enjoyable place to be!
She says, "This is my 25th year in Education and 15th year as a Media Specialist. I’m from Eutawville, SC."
"Why did I choose education? I think education chose me. While growing up, I always wanted to be a nurse. My aunt asked me if I was sure I wanted to be a nurse. She said, “You’re going to be a teacher”. I went on to attend South Carolina State University and majored in nursing. After the passing of grandfather my sophomore year, I lost my passion to be a nurse. I changed my major to Family and Consumer Science with a minor in Child Development. After ten years as a Family and Consumer Science teacher, I decided to attend University of South Carolina to pursue a masters’ degree in Library Science and Information. I wanted to follow in the footsteps of my mother-in-law and sister-in-law. Education is a way for me to help others and mold students into lifelong readers and learners."
