Counselor's Corner
School Counseling
During the month of March, School Counseling focuses on Cooperation. Students will learn ways to cooperate with diverse individuals and in diverse settings. We will begin by examining the word COMMUNITY, as students explore their communities and answer the question “where in the world am I"? They will learn to develop cooperative and productive behavior within their communities. This involves an understanding of their personal values and skills and how they can contribute to their community needs.
To request assistance or schedule family or one-on-one counseling, please email me or call 520-908-5762.

Bully-Free Common Practices in School Counseling
We continue to practice community building circles and restorative circles regularly. Through these practices, students learn how to express their feelings, opinions and ideas. These skills are necessary for cooperating and communicating in diverse settings. These common practices help students solve peer conflicts, develop social skills, and learn the value of assertiveness. Communicating with peers in a safe setting allows students to develop a sense of empathy for others. Having empathy for others and owning a sense of assertiveness for one’s own needs are two important factors in a bully-free environment.
