ATLAS Parent Info
Everything you need to know about the ATLAS testing system!
What is ATLAS?
What ALL parents need to know...
Vocabulary
- Local Screener: these are short assessments given to students to assist teachers in understanding the students' level in math and reading
- ATLAS Screener: these assessments are required by DESE (Department of Elementary and Secondary Education) for all K-3 students attending a public school and are given early in the school year
- ATLAS Interim: these are assessments given to all students at set intervals (fall and winter) to assess student progress toward end-of-the-year goal attainment of grade-level standards
- ATLAS Summative: these are assessments given to all students in grades 3-10 to assess grade-level attainment of standards at the end of each year
ATLAS Portal
The ATLAS Portal gives parents easier access to student testing data. Each parent is sent a 6-digit code via the email on file at the school district. A parent can then use the code to log in to the ATLAS Parent Portal to see student data for screeners, interims, and summative assessments.

Practice at Home
Parents can help students become familiar with the layout and types of items on the test.
Local Screeners
All students at EEI were given a DSA, Acadience (Oral Reading Fluency), and Numeracy screener to assist teachers in understanding the needs of each student at the beginning of the year. These results were sent out to parents on the first progress report this year.
3rd Grade Parent Need to Know
All 3rd graders fall under different rules and are given an ATLAS Screener that checks ORF (Oral Reading Fluency), Decoding, Encoding, and Comprehension. Students are listed as at "RISK" or "READY." Based on the score your student receives on the ATLAS Screener, schools give a "testlet" to better identify your student's specific needs. These testlets are usually 10 questions and take a short amount of time. The information we gain from these screeners and testlets help schools identify and incorporate specific plans and interventions for students. Any student who still shows in the "RISK" category after testlets will have an IRP (Individual Reading Plan) showing the interventions given to support the individual student.
4th & 5th Grade Parent Need to Know
When you enter the ATLAS Family Portal you will see the screenshot below. If you would like more information on your child's end-of-the-year ATLAS Summative Assessment, click on the "Download Detailed Report" and you will get a PDF version of each content area with a detailed explanation of the score. The information even breaks each content area down into sections and gives options for parents to help students in a "Next Steps" section.
